I live in Wisconsin so it’s more the former. The worst I get is squirrels, and they just chew through my internet, apparently.

Chestnuts though. The tree didn’t have any the first year of Summer which was fine,  now I have to rake the goddamn yard for half an hour with the risk of being conked by conkers before actually getting down to the task of mowing the yard for 45 minutes. It’s also in Summer, which is just a horrible time of year.

Winter is better in that I’m sweating from exertion of what I’m doing (hauling a massive machine or shoveling snow), not merely existing.

I know the cure for having to mow the lawn and it's to pave it over and cover that with that plastic grass stuff.

Christ mowing the lawn is a pointless homeowner task.

I should probably look into local regs to see what I can get away with.

"You cannot are not permitted to mow someone's lawn with matches"
Fixed that for you.  Unrelated, become ungovernable.

Speaking of a place that isn't under HOA, I'm catsitting for my mother up in the Virginia mountains for a week.  Got in last night just in front of a thunderstorm, and we went Parkway hiking before fleeing home from the rain.

So far (1PM) today has consisted of drinking nearly 3 liters of spring water, walking barefoot in the grass, and reading technical documents on the covered porch while doing my nails, listening to birdsong, and watching the occasional car go by.  (a sports car sped by, very loud... and then half an hour later came back the other way, stuck behind a slow truck.  he he he.)

I brought plenty of stuff to do but I'm feeling incredibly relaxed right now, it's very pleasant.  I'm almost done recovering from a mild sunburn, good enough that I am definitely for at least a short Parkway trail walk this afternoon.

The two cats (Merlin and Thor) are barn cats and absolutely not okay with being approached, but they did eventually let me watch them eat from nearby.  I'm going to give them some chicken drumstick remnants with their dinner (not the bones, just the connective bits and a little meat).

I mow our lawn because it's good outside activity, a reasonable low-impact workout, and keeps our yard clean to play frisbee, baseball, run around, etc. without worrying too much about snakes* and ticks.  Keeping the HOA happy is a nice bonus.

*I'm actually surprised by the fact that I haven't seen any snakes in my yard in the 8 years we've lived here. Very surprising given how much other wildlife we have.

Other wildlife probably eats the snakes.

An HOA sounds like the worst thing to live in, glad I don't have one near where I live.

People mowing could have mowed the snakes as well as the grass.

Not happy but mow.

How does he need to keep turning OFF the mower every two and a half minutes I swear these self considered heroes of the working force boomers are all total wimps and wusses. It is as if they specialise in alternating between very loud and no noise... Their yard could be sprawling like whatever and they still gonna mow in spirals.

Fuck off with the boomer hate and age discrimination.

Really, I wish people would realize that you can't pin the miseries of the world on a select group of people based on a selection criterium that said group had no choice of belonging to.

Hating boomers is just as retarded as hating black people or hating jews.

Judge behaviour, don't judge age, gender, race.

Unless that age is under 13. I always assume preteens online are terrible and I have never been wrong.

eeh since 99% its people of a certain age (but not too old) that make me loose my temper I am somewhat confused by the final prescription

I don't know how or why but usually it's decided within nanoseconds wether i can stand somebody... the actual reason is then later discovered

I can't recall the people older than them being this way, sometimes I feel like 50 year old be acting like THEY did 7 day work weeks... when I see them presumably disposing of a lot of free time
