Had miso soup for the first time. It was an instant ramen cup, but a decent brand. It was pretty good. Certainly one thing I've wanted to try, and I'm glad I did.

I got out to my car. Cleaned all the snow off. Got into my car. Drove to the thrift store. Bought crutches. Came home. Not too fuckin' shabby after having fractured my hip 12 days ago!

Crutches help me get up the stairs more effectively and lets me leave the walker here at home. But to have come from barely mobile, and to have been able to step outside for the first time in over a week, to be able to leave my basement flat of my own power, to sip at the liberty and individual agency that I once had... It feels good. It feels really, really good.

Well, physically it doesn't, my leg is irritated and unhappy now. But that's okay, it'll get better.

I'm wanting to bring my car up to uni this year, I was expecting to have to pay £200 for a parking permit.

Turns out, the place I'm staying is having a takeover, everything's in absolute chaos. I asked the guy at the front desk how I sort it and his response boiled down to "I don't know, nobody knows, I'll give you a key for a bollard once I can find it. Nobody enforces the permits right now so you're all good."

I'm avoiding being down £200 because of the admin being a mess. Hells yeah.

I adopted 2 cats. My house has been feeling empty since my last oldie passed away early summer, so yay. New purry friends.
You know you can't say that and leave us without pictures.

Two typical sisters. They curl up together one moment, then they bitch slap each other when they're jealous the other one is getting attention the next moment.
They also play tag, taking turns chasing each other. Still pretty playful for 4 years old.

Hello stranger, I was beginning to think you'd left the forums for good.

Post-op followup went well- staples are out of my leg now, xrays look good, I've got a referral for physical therapy. I'm getting around okay and voyages beyond my basement flat are becoming manageable. Doctor says any motion I can get out of my leg is probably good for it and the more I walk around and such, the more responsive it'll get. This makes me less afraid of overtaxing myself or accidentally fucking it up further.

It'll be another two weeks before I'm off the anti-clotting medication and can use ibuprofen instead of acetaminophen- gods i miss beer. But who knows, maybe I'll stop hitting the daily limit for use of the stuff because I won't need so much pain medication and I can have a cheeky cocktail for the first time in weeks.

I think I'll go to my favorite coffee shop tomorrow. It's been a long time since I could.

And, to doublepost-

Excursions outside aren't as hugely difficult any more; it still takes effort and like ten minutes of prep, but it's doable. Crutches make this a LOT easier; the walker has advantages when moving small objects around home but for fieldwork, the crutches take less work and are more portable, and can actually do stairs. Still prone to tweaking the hip if I move wrongly, but pain is generally very manageable otherwise and I'm not even sure I need to hit the daily limit for acetaminophen any longer, so long as I'm careful.

That said, having tweaked my hip on my way in to home, I think I need to go take some more. Ach.

The Onion has bought InfoWars, including it's production studio and supplemental company, after winning the auction that was held to sell the companies to pay for (a small part of) Alex Jones' 1.5 billion dollar debt. Jones' was sentenced by court to pay 1.5 billion dollars to the relatives of Sandy Hook victims for his defamation.
Relatives of Sandy Hook victims approve of the Onion's take-over.

The Onion says it will change the InfoWars website into a parody of itself. ' Weird' internet personalities such as Jones will be ridiculed.
The new InfoWars will also offer a platform for Everytown for Gun Safety, a non-profit organisation that was founded after the Sandy Hook shooting to put an end to gun violence. The new website is expected to air in january.
