Isn't it just that your american miles are like just 1 or 1,5 km or something? I don't know if it's the same in Australia (I mean, being English and all I guess it's actually more likely to be the same as the American), but a Swedish mile is 10 km. Maybe that's why he/you thinks it's a long way?

Actually a mile is 1.6 Kilometers I think. And a mile is Imperial, not American. But when did this become the measurement thread?
