Had an argument with my mother that eventually led into a sorta heart-to-heart where I explained I actually DO help her around the house and that yelling at me isn't helping things.  She was a bit nicer to me after that, which was... nice  :o

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

On the somewhat belated topic of cats... I grew up in a house full of cats. Satan, Mickey, and Headcheese were the three I remember most. Tortoiseshells are crazy, but they're also adorable. :3

I've always had cats in my home, too. One of my earliest memories (I think I was about 2? Maybe 3 at the oldest) was the strange 'BA-BUMP' of the car rolling over the family cat as we reversed out of the driveway. :( But that's not very happy, so I shall point out that we then promptly headed down to the RSPCA, where I first met the kitten who would become my closest friend for fifteen years. :) Pokeweed was his name, and he was a truly amazing cat.

ASUS took my call pretty quick today and had a RMA in 5 minutes for my monitor, dropped it off at fedex and went back to school to watch some anime.

How the devilfucking dickens did Breaking Bad make a 10 minute segment where a man changes his clothes so suspenseful?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Well, thank you for reminding how good Internet in Europe is. This one is wireless btw, and I'm only just in range. Normally it's a bit faster.
