Yeah, bullet train is problematic for calculating momentum transfer because of the angled surface of the engine. Freight train has more perpendicularity (which is a word I will probably never have cause to use again in my lifetime).

This belongs in the sad thread, for it's an excellent word.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Not having chekced it myself yet, does this weeks "What If?" Treat the bullet/train interaction as an elastic or inelastic collision?

Ah, yess, I see *reads*...

BB rounds = elastic.

AK rounds = inelastic/deformities.

It similar to a problem I set my own students - how many flies colliding with a car windshield would it take to bring the car to rest? The answer is normally a lot.

Would you have accepted "A fuckload" as a valid answer?

And now use it in every sentence, without it being out of place. Gogogo!

If one were to define a fuckload, and we could use it as a sort of standardised unit of measurement (like "the Belgium"), yes, I would.

To be more specific, I believe it's "5 metric fucktons", also known as 1 Boatmurdered Pantry. You'd be surprised how often that unit crops up in physics involving weapons, death, geology and vast quantities of at least 2.

To avoid confusion, I'd prefer you to use 'A metric fuckload'.

Seriously, no one uses the imperial fuckload. The metric is 1.7 more fuckloads than the imperial anyway.

Is the bolded fuckload a metric or imperial fuckload? Maths would imply imperial, but I want to be sure.

I hereby decree that the mass of the Earth is one MegaFuckload, giving us a nice conversion factor.

I find your lack of faith in the Imperial fuckload....disturbing.
