In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Go ahead. I'll still remain as far away as possible, though.

Why... WHAT?

And you do know that 'Factoid means something that MIGHT BE a fact, right? That's a piece of obscure trivia, not a factoid.

As you are sure that it is true.

... Sorry if I came across as condescending.

Since we're already on the subject of technicalities. Factoid is often used as a synonym for a piece of trivia. Perfectly ok.

So, my day really wasn't to bad, and you will see why this is in the 'happy tread at the end, but overall, the past month blows.

Had a job lined up, spent all of my money moving cross country to get this job, find out they don't want me after all. Apply for jobs, get interviews, get turned down. Car start leaking oil from everything that has an opening. More jobs deny me, car gets worse.

Yet, at the end of the day, when my four month old looks at me, with his innocent eyes, smiles, and makes cooing noises, or giggles, it makes it all better.

Worth it for the kids!

... It isn't a piece of obscure trivia, nor a factoid, because I was employing the term of endearment "sweetheart" with no attempt to speak of trees whatsoever.  All of my permanent nicknames are capitalized, like Professor Poland, Topology Man, or Spud.

It was a lie for comedic effect.  Dare I say it, a piece of sarcasm that turned into trolling when you chose to take it literally.
