Finally got Nod32. For someone who gets computer crippling viruses on a regular basis, this is a very good thing.

I had a pretty amazing day today.  Also, because I go to Berkeley, I apparently get a free download of Photoshop, MSword/etc., and Windows 7, which are all things I've wanted for a while and currently lack.  And tomorrow, I'm watching the first Sherlock Holmes movie (again--Squidhead wants to see it), and the day after I'm going to take a little hike.  And tonight I have no pressing work but I'm going to do my reading for rhetoric class and some mathin' around.  And then I'll read something.  And then bed, all nice and squishy.

Had a follow-up appointment regarding my recent hand-mangling. Seems like I lucked out, and only the meat of my hand was hit; I avoided cutting any tendons or nerves, so long-term damage is unlikely. All in all good news!

Also, my job set me up with "light work" that I can do one-handed... and though it's been fewer hours, and fairly demeaning work so far ("go around and photograph sharp objects for half an hour", or "hand copies of this fill-in-the-blank questionnaire to everyone in the building"), it's still work.

The whole ordeal has helped galvanize my resolve, and I think I can see my way forward again. It's surprisingly tough to qualify for government assistance when you're working, even if you're working multiple jobs, and not earning enough for basic expenses. As such, I'm hoping to be able to use this injury to finally qualify for underemployment, which might help shore up the hole in my budget, until I can secure a large enough income to live off of again.

Here's to hope!
