So apparently in D&D under the provisions of the rulebook it lists a gallon of ale as being two silver pieces.

Turns out that few hundred in gold you have knocking around in your purse? It can buy a hell of a lot of ale.
I'm tempted to do some math to see how horribly broken that is(alternately, how to break it horribly), but I'm too tired and burnt-out on D&D after spending far too long reading Harry Potter and the Natural 20.

Not as broken as you would think, although that is a gargantuan amount of alcohol. If you want more economy weirdness, check the price on a scroll of flesh to salt, and a cow. I don't know how much a cow weighs, but anything over 110 lbs is pure profit.

Like in Harry Potter and the Natural 20: Salt is frakking expensive in DnD. So if you can acquire an easy access to salt...

Oh yeah, I read that recently. Is good!

Pnx

Wow, that's... something.

The ale thing was just entertaining because they were trying to convince various towns to join their cause, and apparently came up with the idea of bribing people with obscene quantities of ale...

Oh my god D:

I told one of my friends about my PTSD attack because he'd been concerned about me at dinner last night, and he dropped off a get-well package.  It's a bunch of notes from characters in the role-playing campaign telling my character to get better and take it easy and stuff, and there's a really bad ink drawing on the front (apparently he imagines her with a unibrow, who'da thunk it).  Anyway, I'm... so, sooooo grateful.  Having friends is good.

A week or so after I discovered Puella Magi Madoka Magica, I rediscovered a prolific Space Jam remixer on Youtube. And in a rare moment of synchronicity, this is what emerged from their playlist:

Credens Justiti-Slam - I don't know why this exists. But apparently it does. Yay? I'm not sure.

New wedding band arrived this morning.  We're both getting new ones, because our old ones have been broken for a while.  We got cheap, flimsy trinket rings when we first got married, and they've both suffered too much damage to wear anymore.  Our older kid bit one of them flat.

This one is tungsten carbide.  Never going to have that problem again.  I like the weighty feel of it.  Most of all, it's a black faceted design.  My first observation after putting it on:  it looks like pixels.  The indie gamer in me feels a bit of joy every time I look at it.

It's not that strong actually. Breaks if you drop it from a decent altitude.

From what I understand tungsten carbide is very hard, so you aren't likely to get any scratches on it, but it is some what brittle as far as metals go. If you don't apply too great an impact on it, you shouldn't have any problem. I would be surprised if a piece the size of a ring would have the force to break at its terminal velocity, so I don't see dropping it as much of a problem, but obviously don't hit it with a hammer.  :P

EDIT: Also, my own happy.
Got an amazing jacket today. When I say amazing, I mean it was originally marked at about $150. Was marked down to $30 because they were desperately trying to clear out for new winter stock, and once again I could fit into the last sizes left that are too small for mortal man. Awesome jacket score!

Looks just like one of these

I was starting to think of the Semi-Elemental Plane of Ranch Dressing, but then I read that. Holy crap.

The blog itself is wonderful. Allie really understands what depression is and is able to explain it in a humorous way.

Half the images aren't loading for me for some reason, but still this has already made my day. I used to have to force myself to read Allie's posts at home, because I would make too many snortgiggles at work. I'm also amazed that the comment section to this newest post FILLED UP to maximum in about 9 hours. She has a LOT of friends she's never met. I hope that helps her.

Back from two days with my inamorata. I don't know how, but every moment we spend together is better than the last. Spent Thursday night at a bed & breakfast. Got up for breakfast and discovered that the owner of the B&B is a celebrity psychic who does sold-out shows in Vegas. And looks like this:

He joined us for breakfast and turned out to be a really nice guy, and he's a native to the area -- a country boy who's made umpteen millions by going out west and just being who he is. And now he's investing a considerable amount of money into fixing up his hometown and revitalizing the economy through tourism. But she and I kept glancing at each other all throughout breakfast, looking to see who was going to be the first to crack and just start giggling maniacally.

She won.  ;D

Thank you for the warning. That was a massive WTF payload. Also, it only took me about 30 seconds to start giggling like a schoolgirl.

Hiked up Mt Cannibal today. Outpaced everyone I was with, and descended the mountain in record time. I've still got it, baby!

Not bad. Have you ever been up Mt Warning at sun rise? It is pretty much a rite of passage that must be preformed at least once...
Love that climb...
