So now you can set up child labour factories to take over the universe and kill god.

Nietzsche beat you to it.

"God is dead." - Nietzsche, 1883
"Nietzsche is dead." - God, 1900.

I apologise for the ancient joke.

It was actually Nietzsche who wrote that

Id rather not middle the chemicals
I just need this to test for purity
I'm debating on cutting it out at this rate and just doing the other stuff now

Also wouldn't bleach neutralize the acid?

II doesn't is not a valid oxidation number, btw it's lacking a sign. :V
Err, what?

@Cryxis: Throwing an oxidiser in there might help, like bleach or something. Don't do this before consulting your teacher/guardian! Otherwise heating and increasing the surface area (ie using finer tin particles) are the usual ways. Stronger acid would be good too, but I guess you won't have that on hand.
AFAIK, it has to be either +II or -II.

In the same way most people say they want plus five eggs, so that they wouldn't be understood that they want to be five eggs in debt?

Sorry for the sarcasm, but it illustrates the point, numerals without annotation are presumed positive, and it's down to convention. If your chemistry teacher tried to force you to write plusses, he's either a pedantic dick or/and trying to make sure people don't cheat by saying they meant negative.

Ah, in principle yes, when referring to ions. But when talking about salts, the anion's oxidation state usually is clear - so the number given is the oxidation state of the cation, and the sign is implied.
