This is why the most fun I had in D&D was playing the sole evil character in the group, but being lawful, so I don't just screw over people's plans, but I openly embrace their suffering.

There was one time when a kobold assassin attempted to kill the party by lighting the tavern we were in on fire.
My character, worshipping a god fire, felt rejoice that the place was now a roaring conflagration, and refused to assist in any help to help put out the fire.
I didn't actively make it worse, and be an irritating player, I had an in-character reason to not help, and stuck with it.

There were other cases, but that one comes to my mind most readily. (Along with pissing off a local priest by stumbling into his church after snorting cocaine :P )
Pffft XD I want to hear THAT conversation

My character was bitten by a werewolf, so we were trying to find a cure before I turned.
We considered going to the church to seek advice, but only after getting advice from the shady alchemist.

On religious in game characters
my friend who invited me was a vasal of Bahamut
He basicaly walked around the whole game yelling,,¨Praise be unto our great lord Bahamut¨ and that sort of stuff.
When the group was seperated and he was ALONE walking to meet us we heard him, with a cleric and young mini dragon thing that have been following him forever, talking to himself stories of the great bahamut.....
SO so funny

For some reason I just remembered my old avatar, and am now struggling to keep from laughing on the train.

I have exclusively played divine spellcasters in DND (;
My first character played it completely straight.  An ancient (even by elven standards), pious, gay druid devoted to diplomacy and holding back the undead menace with the help of his woodland friends.  All with reverence to the god of unicorns.

My second character was that guy's black sheep son, a true-neutral satyr cleric of the god of harsh nature.  The question of his other parent was a long-running, unresolved joke.  I still tried to come up with prayers sometimes, but they focused more on the inevitable death of my foes.  That character dabbled in some dark things and eventually lost his mind.  Not so reverent.

My current character was a "favored soul" of the god of gnomes.  *Never* prayed - unlike a cleric who asks for magic every morning, this innocent gnome orphan just suddenly channeled divine energy one day.  No explanation.  He was actually a bit terrified to ever interact with his god, in case it was a mistake.  Then one day he died, and... well, fear leads to the dark side, and signing contracts.

Meanwhile another player exclusively plays arcane spellcasters, which to him means cheerful sociopaths.  His characters kill if and only if it's funny.  The barbarian is really the only prudent one among us, when he isn't in a berserker rage.

On that bit of religious stuff

How customizable is D&D for the DM?
I'm going to try to run my great river campaign in it once I get a hang of DMing D&D, transferring it over would require customizing some new races (based on already existing ones), having playable monsters, done rather jerry rigged things in game out of liking watching people do stupid things ((rubbing this game with my old crap set up one character was a 15 ft giant, after slaughtering an elven village he gathered the guards shields and some rope to make a giant arm braver thing)) I would also like to add a crap ton of gods ((going for something around a cult filled world were players basicaly make up a god they worship and get things from it))
Not sure if I can do that though .-.
PMs work for me if this didcussion is cluttering the thread

As far as religion goes, you can pretty much make shit up. Pretty much the closest you'll see to a constant are Bahamut and Tiamat, and usually a Pelor-like of some sort for the bog-standard Lawful Good religion full of nice clerics and asshole paladins. But yeah, you can do pretty much whatever you want. That's how it usually goes with D&D 3.5; it gives you a solid, fairly faithful to life set of mechanics with plenty of examples of fluff, but none of the fluff is canon or whatever. You could run D&D with eastern-style gods of every-fucking-thing if you wanted to.

I was going to do something like cultist type stuff where each god is just a powerful spirit that created a following before it died and that following is now their religion

I just noticed that when I do something with a noticeable feeling of irreverence (notably this time, tossing a can into a bin), it somehow makes a louder and more obnoxious noise when it hollowly clangs against the bottom.
The reason I noticed this was because this particular irreverant can-tossing prompted both of my roomates to simultaneously poke their heads out of their rooms and offer a quip to the tune of 'well someone's a badass today'.

I wonder if that leaves a noticeable pheromone or something in the air, like when a guy pees directly into the bowl and everyone else in the bathroom is like 'Well look who thinks they're hot shit'.

First day at uni/college/whatever the foreign equivalent is!

There's no air conditioning so it's really warm!

Parking is a bitch!

Some guy randomly started rolling a joint in one of the classes!

He disappeared for the rest of the day!

There are so many things to keep track of!

I have no idea what I'm doing!

This is all very exciting for some reason!
