So...the past couple of days have been...pretty much my first rollercoaster of emotional happenings (like 2~ days ago had me in bed with depression and I didn't eat a whole day. And I didn't feel hungry next morning until after I ate -_-).
But today was a good day.

Because I've been suffering from years of depression which I didn't speak about at all online or offline, but it showed: lacking productivity; communication problems; expression, etc....
And then I spoke to my mentor in Psych today (current course).
And I spent the afternoon in tears. Happy tears, too.

And...too little words, too many thoughts.
Just real happy for what'll happen in the future.
Honestly...happy.

Very glad. Too long I've been waiting for things to come up Tiruin.
Sad that you had to crash before you could rise.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

That is ridiculously cool.

I'm a translator now! Anonymously, for an open source project, but it's been one of my dreams for a long time. I'm making a difference! Or sort of. Still, I'm super happy about it.

So we've learned to give proto-AIs pareidolia?

Did you know you can be a translator for TED videos? You're volunteering, but you get to be attributed. Something you can put on your resume.

Huh. I didn't, it's worth thinking about. I have quite a bit of free time right at the moment, too.

Deep neural network for image classification told to repeatedly enhance features it thinks it sees in images.

Results in really interesting art style which shows off how it was trained to think.

Cooooooooooooooooool.

Also trippy. I love it. The architecture ones look like art I'd hang up.

Amazing. I guess we can check "art" off the list of things computers aren't good at.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I wish those images were higher resolution so I could use them as desktop backgrounds.

Was feeling bad about my knobby knees but then I remembered several conventionally attractive female celebrities also have them.
So I guess that one thing celebrities are good for is to popularize physical flaws, because there's no reason you can't be beautiful even if you have prehensile tentacles for arms.

Shitposting. Shitposting for miles in every direction. One does not dare to glance at their oldest posts lest they feel the greatest shame imaginable.  :P
