I have a lot to be happy about!
The smoke got thick again today, which kept me from getting (even more) sunburned on another very nice hike.
The hotel's satellite internet started working mysteriously! (Despite the smoke getting worse, which was supposedly the issue...)  I was able to catch up on work :D  And you lovely people, too (:
Many attractive people on the trail today, some of whom didn't have shirts on :-X
Feeling amazingly un-sore, considering.  Just some lingering sunburn, but...  Only one more day of hiking!  Then Wednesday is sightseeing by car, and Thursday is the trip home.  HYPE
But I've had a really great time, rather unexpectedly.  I'm very ready for it to be over, and I'm glad it almost is, but I'm going to look back on this experience fondly.  (And my mom *really* deserved this trip, it's great to see her honestly happy like this)

That's not the right kind of level up

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Transferred into a class just a few hours before it started. Best decision I've made so far in college. The class is all about how the environment effects crime, which is a really cool subject, we get to use cool software (ArcGIS, fancy software for making maps of data) that I want to learn, the professor is already fantastic, and we got a book with the coolest name ("Space, Time, and Crime"). I'm excited.

Like, just playing around I made a map of which states recycle glass beverage containers. Montana needs to get on their recycling game.

Found a thing: http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/scigen/
Nonsense is always fun, especially when it's so close to being readable.

Unfortunately that book has no mention of Batman OR Gotham. I'm not sure it can do what it claims to.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the first La Tomatina.
I think we should celebrate by drenching each other in tomato fluids.

Sounds like that story could end up being like that one poem that involved girls and goblin merchent men. Apparently the author was very religious and didn't intend it, but how could you write this without realising,

One may lead a horse to water,
Twenty cannot make him drink.
Though the goblins cuff’d and caught her,
Coax’d and fought her,
Bullied and besought her,
Scratch’d her, pinch’d her black as ink,
Kick’d and knock’d her,
Maul’d and mock’d her,
Lizzie utter’d not a word;
Would not open lip from lip
Lest they should cram a mouthful in:
But laugh’d in heart to feel the drip
Of juice that syrupp’d all her face,
And lodg’d in dimples of her chin,
And streak’d her neck which quaked like curd.
At last the evil people,
Worn out by her resistance,
Flung back her penny, kick’d their fruit
Along whichever road they took,
Not leaving root or stone or shoot;
Some writh’d into the ground,
Some div’d into the brook
With ring and ripple,
Some scudded on the gale without a sound,
Some vanish’d in the distance.

               In a smart, ache, tingle,
Lizzie went her way;
Knew not was it night or day;
Sprang up the bank, tore thro’ the furze,
Threaded copse and dingle,
And heard her penny jingle
Bouncing in her purse,—
Its bounce was music to her ear.
She ran and ran
As if she fear’d some goblin man
Dogg’d her with gibe or curse
Or something worse:
But not one goblin scurried after,
Nor was she prick’d by fear;
The kind heart made her windy-paced
That urged her home quite out of breath with haste
And inward laughter.

               She cried, “Laura,” up the garden,
“Did you miss me?
Come and kiss me.
Never mind my bruises,
Hug me, kiss me, suck my juices
Squeez’d from goblin fruits for you,
Goblin pulp and goblin dew.
Eat me, drink me, love me;
Laura, make much of me;
For your sake I have braved the glen
And had to do with goblin merchant men.”
