Bug in Elite: Dangerous allowed the AI to abuse glitches and form superweapons. Which of course it immediately started using to gank players out of jump speed.

This kind of emergent behaviour and interaction is why I think computer game AI is one of the most interesting fields in computer science.

AI abusing glitches has been a thing for a long time, actually - a lot of games have AI unintentionally doing things which cannot be done by players, like casting spells in anti-magic zones and stuff. It's actually pretty hard to make them stop doing that, unless you use some sort of unified user interface, which automatically prevents the players, both AI and human ones, from doing forbidden things. And that's like, effort.
