Am in vacation and got a six (the minimum to pass) on a subject I thought I'd fail (American (continent) History 3). Now to deal with the problem of having nothing to do.

I somehow managed to get the maximum score of 5 on my English AP exam. Now if only this score was helpful for actual university admissions...

My Polish penpal makes me happy. It's her birthday today and talking to her makes me feel a lot better than I would have over the summer.

I had 2 happies today.

I bought some fish for my coldwater tank. 2 hillstream loaches, a black moor goldfish and two calico orandas. My nephew got to pick one of them and picked a small calico, which was cute. His mum thinks it's an ugly one though.  :P

Second happy is that my stick insects have started to have babies. They're parthenogenic, so the two of them should just be plopping out a couple of eggs a day until december with no outside input. No idea what I can do with all the babies though. We have plenty of ivy for them to eat, and I'm growing some privet for them as well, but I'll run out of space for them if I keep even a quarter of them to adulthood. Still, it's nice to see a small swarm of little twigs slowly dawdling around the terrarium.

Some of these stick insects can get friggin huge. I expect one of those to get eaten by Bear Grills or some other tv survival dude. Waiting for the stick on a stick joke.

Mine are just indian stick insects. They get about 3 inches long. I'd like a jungle nymph or similar large breed, but that starts getting into the pricier territory and I'd be better off getting another reptile at that point.

The stick insects? Not sure, but I'd guess they taste like grasshoppers wrapped in a mouldy leaf. Don't think there's much nutrition in them anyway.

. Some might be tough, if only from their diet.

Tough as sticks?

Stick insects also often have a spiny carapace, though it's not particularly hard in most cases. I still wouldnt' fancy chowing down on a female jungle nymph.
