It varies a lot based on where you are and the specific program. Where I was at, it mostly negotiated with normal classes to substitute higher level work for the normal curriculum, which generally came out to more difficult and involved school work, but mostly less of it in a much more engaging structure. Was in it myself, and it was one of the few actually actively tolerable parts of the K-12 experience.

Other places, it's basically misery stacked on top an already shit experience. Just depends on where you are and how the local program is structured. Most of what I've heard from folks involved over the years have pegged it as ~at least better than normal classes~, for what that's worth, though.

It's sarcasm with a seed of truth. I have very low opinions of gifted programs in general because I think they give people the wrong sense of other people's abilities, and their own. A lot of them are based on bad science about human intelligence and learning.

(I was in one).

I knew gifted programs tend to be bad, but can you clarify what you said? I'm aware that gifted programs do put children on pedestals, and that's like, Really Bad™, but I want to understand the problem with gifted programs in more depth.

Hans Noir sounds fun.

And yeah I have a 4yo named Lucius and a 2yo named Tobias. Or as we refer to them, Bud and the Shoe Goblin.

"Bud and the Shoe Goblin" sounds like a band name, tbh. Good luck with that.

Hopeless slave to the hot bean juice, checking in. Coffee is good, and no coffee is really, really bad.

Coffee is good.

No.
Coffee++
Coffee#

Which I assume is one where you put the coffee grounds into your mouth, and pour hot water into it to drink coffee. A just-in-time coffee. I wonder what an interpreted coffee would be like.

Reminds me of that commercial thing where someone jammed dried noodles into their mouth then guzzled steaming water. Been around for a while, whatever it was.

Interpreted coffee is either decaf or toffee, if I had to take a stab at it. Something in that direction. Coffee flavored stuff.

Alternatively, it's just used coffee filters. You can do stuff with those things!
