The Dutch province of Noord Holland has decided to ban commercial advertisment of meat, fish and highly fossil fuel dependent products at the 500 provincial bus stops they own, and they urge the city and town municipalities in their province to do the same for their local public advertisement spaces.

It's a small step, and mostly symbolic, but still a good thing. Clever advertisement is the main tool of rampant consumerism.
