I saw some okay pictures from my area, but I missed the lights myself, and the pics were mostly grainy and weak.  Yours are much better.

How fast did the patterns move?

Quite, in waves about every other second. I cant really quantify that, technically.

I'll be honest, I unabashedly love these comics. They're always wholesome.

Took my wife out for Mother's Day, had a nice dinner and talked for hours.

Me and the cat went out and watched the aurora for a while and I took some pictures.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Middle one is almost directly overhead. Appeared to be about 10-15° off vertical, but I can't measure that objectively. Fluctuations appeared to be propagating from outside inwards around it. Really funky. Tried to take a video but it turned out grainy garbage, apparently this camera just can't do video in the dark

Yeah, that's a nice one too.

Like I said, unabashedly wholesome. I like the cat one too.

"If the kitty doesn't have a home can we keep her?" "We're not keeping the-" *Big black eyes* "Maybe"

EDIT: Oesophagitis has cleared up, I think it might have been my GERD. Regularly taking antacids caused it to clear up quickly.

The fourth chapter of Stardust: Labyrinth is out! After the minor setback in the third chapter, the group ventures deeper into the eponymous labyrinth, and the sheer scale of the complex becomes apparent...

One more essay out the way.

I swear to God if it turns out I do have ADHD and the reason getting assignments done is so difficult for me is because of that, I'm gonna be upset. Still, it's one down right now.

Got myself a food dehydrator, been making ground beef jerky, fruit leather, kales chips, &c. Finally got the jerky timing just right and oh my lord this is a danger to have in the home.

I'd stopped buying it for the exact same reasons as you, but it's really nice to have the option to prep my own for cheap when 90% of my vacations are a week or two of hiking and kayaking in bumfuck nowhere. IMO this is the way to go if you're going to eat it at all. Good-quality lean grass-fed ground beef isn't the worst thing in the world as long as it's not loaded up with preservatives, HFCS, and salt. (You can also do it with ground turkey but it feels like it's harder to find good quality there. You can theoretically do salmon jerky as well but the stench is unbearable.)

Going off of US average prices, a 1lb pack of good ground beef is ~$6-7. You get ~1/3 of the starting weight in jerky, or ~5oz and a bit. If you're talking store-bought jerky made with high-quality ingredients, you're potentially looking at $4-6/oz (if not more), and a lot of that weight is filler in some brands. Homemade is closer to ~$1.50/oz. That pound of chuck can give you two weeks worth of relatively healthy high-protein snacks for the price of a coffee or cocktail. That's without even getting into being able to guarantee no nitrates are in it, knowing exactly the condition of the spices used, being able to do custom flavor profiles instead of "salty", "salty with fake BBQ smoke", or "salty with one red pepper flake per bag"... I have this one I make with garlic powder, red pepper, local honey, and Worcestershire sauce that's killer.

Dyshidrosis seems to be beginning to clear up. It was a horrific outbreak. Left hand's gotten itchy now but only on one finger, and my right's not itching at all now and is just dry in the aftermath.

I did have a large enough blister on my left hand that I had to pop it. Thankfully it was painless.

EDIT: Got my hands on some unsalted cashews, been feeding the jackdaws (Or maybe just one, I can't tell) and they're a bit more comfortable around me. By the time I ran out today the one I was feeding was comfortable enough to get within 2m of me, even if they did then run off with the cashew to eat it further away.

I've got a week and a half to befriend 'em before I head home.

The fifth chapter of Stardust: Labyrinth is out! Horrifying event after horrifying event happens as the five tries to find their way back after the fourth chapter's incident, threatening to derail the expedition completely. Will they manage to regain their bearings?

If you think these announcements are annoying, tell me to stop them and I will.
