Your cousin is your what!?
« on: October 02, 2009, 03:31:20 pm »

So your mother is your cousin... which would mean someone married their sibling's child.

Further inquiries produce this: Her husband (Aditha) is her cousin, her aunt (Ivi) is her cousin, another aunt (Nawo) is her maternal grandmother. And of course, her mother (Lomifo) is a cousin as well.

That is one strange shaped family tree, let me tell you what.

I think what happened is that it's a modded race that lives a long time, but has a childhood that goes on 20 years. So at one point, after a couple of worldgen battles, the dating pool got kind of restricted.

For his cousin to be his mother, his father would have had to marry his sibling's daughter - and then, y'know - to make this guy.

So it's like this:

Father Married Brother's Daughter. Has child with her, making this guy.

Yeah, I've worked out the "cousin mother", "grandma auntie" and "hubby cousin"... but the strangest one was the "cousin auntie"

Their parent's sibling's child is also their parent's sibling?

The way I got it to work was... Mother has child with Father. Father has Gmom1 and Gdad1 and sibling Mom2. Gdad1 is brother to Gmom2, who has Gdad3. Gdad3 married Mom2, who has Mother and Aunt. But since Aunt is Father's Sibling's Child, Aunt is also Cousin. This would also make Mother and Father cousins, and mother and Child cousins as well. It doesn't make Grandma and Child cousins yet, but I'm sure that could be worked in.

This is less a family tree than a family fence.

I've seen someone meet a "I'm my own grandfather" character. It's somewhere in the depths of the Adventure forums. :-\

I actually heard this is possible to do IRL, but I have yet to find out how.  I call shenanigans until someone can explain it to me.

The only concievable way to become your own grandfater (or any such lineage member) is to marry the wife or husband of said person.

You can't be your own grandfater in real life, because you have already been born.

It is possible. And yes, it is frightning.

I can't work in DF, since widows and widowers do not remarry.

Good lord I wish it was; it's like when someone wrote a Cockney Version of the bible.
