Modded humans not following stay inside orders.
« on: October 02, 2009, 05:03:01 pm »

I recently modded the game so it could play humans (by removing/adding the [CIV_CONTROLABLE] tag to the respective races.) And i added corkscrews as something they can make, but i notticed that, when set the orders to "stay indoor" they just freeze on the spot. I know that indoors acutually means underground, but i have some storage basements that no-one's using as a bomb shelter. all they do is stand there until they see the enemy. then they just run around and eventually die.

Then it's probably because your fortress is primarily outside. Civilians won't head to nearby underground places if you turn on the stay indoors option; they will in the next version with burrows and such. They have to be indoors already for that order to be truly effective.

Draft your civilians and make sure they don't chase opponents and ignore wild animals. Quickly station them in the bomb shelters and undraft them once inside; afterwards they won't wander out but will spam you with tons of job cancellations.

Do you have an established Meeting Area that is indoors?

That is why. Dwarves do the exact same thing, even if the entire fort is underground, when the only meeting places/zones are outside.
