Pew. I'm ill and sad and have nothing to do at all, so I'm back. Also It's because I'm one huge piece of an idiot, so the longer my absenсe was, the weirder and uncomfortablier it was to return. Don't ask why. That's another  reason for being sad. Being and realising yourself as irrational idiot is always sad.

Also "huge" was first autocorrected to "hugs", for some reason. Isn't that cute?😖

The autocorrect knows that this is Bay12, hugs are how we roll.

I feel awkward when I go away for a bit and don't read all the threads I'm subscribed to.  What if someone already said the thing I'm saying?  How can I expect others to read what I wrote, if I don't read everything they wrote??

Then I relax though, it's not a big deal.  Welcome back (:

Of course we remember you! I'm pretty sure you starred in that one photo-- wait, yeah, there's even a quote about it in your sig. :P

...the longer my absenсe was, the weirder and uncomfortablier it was to return. .
Wow, that's relatable. I am the same way.

The fuck

I didin't even register a lot until reading this. Every single of those is truth, to the point I could change some details and call fair bit of those stories mine.
Women are treated as unique and important. Men are treated as expendable and all alike.

I almost forgot this friendly atmosphere 😊 Good to be back.

And, Kot, it really depends on where you are. Both country and social class.
I mean your statement - what is in that post seems right.

Hearing shit like "you'll get married anyways and won't work as a specialist, so I will just give you this good mark, though you don't really deserve it/cause you cried at the last exam of the term" and be treated as weak, so on... Don't you think It's humiliating? Ah, almost forgot - you're not a person, you're desined to make babies.

I mean, there are difficultties for all genders, ok? Sorry, it was my raw spot, and you touched  on it. (Did I translate it right?) Let's not start a massive agressive discussion, ok? I just wanted to say.

Hel that one hits close to home.  I am a broken shattered wreck of a man, I have serious issues that I am never going to be able to work out, and I spend every moment of every day hating myself for being a failure at my life.  I want nothing more than to just cry about it, but I actually cannot, I am so thoroughly indoctrinated into my masculinity that I cannot even conceive of acting outside of it.

your first response to something like this probably shouldn't be "yeah, we have it worse than women"

yeah, there's plenty of bullshit on both sides of the fence. is it so hard to express that without trivializing the shit the other side goes through?

mind you, i guess the bullshit is probably partially the reason people trivialise the others' problems. it's pretty hard to see them, after all.

That was a good read. It is a good reminder that everyone faces challenges, and that we should all keep in mind that life is pretty tough all around. Be sympathetic for the trials others go through, even if they are different ones from the ones you yourself face.

It is better to help lift everyone up then try to pull others down to our level.

Ooo, this linkie! I've been browsing details along themes like that for my (not-really-academic-but-instructor-nudged) research paper due to lacking time in Social Psych. Very agreeable for international characteristics--but the good side is that given knowledge, people can act. An ounce of sincere kindness helps add perspective, and this is more me speaking personally...from people who had helped me a lot before.

Could you fucking not though. This is exactly what happens every time someone tries to bring attention to mens problems - HURR DURR BOTH SIDES HAVE IT BAD DON'T TRIVIALIZE WOMENS PROBLEMS. Thankfully I've seen it happen also in response to various feminist movements, but it seems that in their case it usually still ends with claiming that their problems are not as big, not that mens problems are real.

I'm not saying they aren't going through bullshit. You can be unique and important and still go through bullshit. You can be expendable and similar to everyone else and still have great life. What I am saying that, apart from maybe extreme cases, females usually get much more attention, even without really asking for it (Which is also not a good thing in many cases), while as a dude if you don't actively seek it, you're left alone. I mean, that's the root of many womens problems - treating as objects, sexualization, etc. they mainly seem to stem from that women get attention they do not want and are supposed to try and get even more of it. Ridiculously enough, they are supposed to be unique within certain limits and smart, funny, whatnot. While with men you're supposed to be nearly a faceless muscular dude with the same set of skills as all of men. Women are supposed to get attention, men are supposed to give attention and everyone has problems because of that.

Easiest example - it's normal for men to hit on women, women hitting on men are sluts.
