If one's in a directionless period of their life, not really knowing what they want, or having any sort of a plan for the future - then getting any number of momentarily meaningless qualifications might be of higher value than just dropping out and idling.

Wow, they've really made college prepare you for the "real world."

I do love the subject I do the degree in, or at least I think so, it just that I am not sure if I'm actually good at it.

That bolded bit is fairly important. What parts are you struggling with?

Also if you spend two years and then just drop out then this is going to look really bad on your resume. Holes in your resume aren't appealing to employers, so you can honestly say you studied then dropped out, or you can omit the failed degree. Either way, this isn't going to have employers lining up at your door.

I'm not sure anyone has ever cared that someone changed majors. If that were true, 1/3 (doing a quick search for percent of students who change) of college graduates would be un-employable.

The system works as intended.

Friend I've mentioned a few times in the past committed suicide last week.

I'm not hugely surprised, but I had really hoped that they could pull through and have a better life.

Sorry to hear that. Even when you kind of expect it, it's a weird shock.

Sadly, not the first time I've heard that kind of news.

We tried so hard to help.  I'm just kind of empty right nw.

I never mentioned changing majors, I said dropping out. But if you change majors and it's a completely different field then it's likely almost none of your credits will count. If I was 2 years into a 3 year degree and the choice was leaving and doing three years again for a different degree, I'd just buckle down, do four years and have two degrees.

I would really like to consider buying an electric vehicle.  Sadly all the offerings also include way more "electronification" than I want.  I don't want a touchscreen. I don't want OTA updates. I don't want phone apps that can unlock, start, or summon the car. I don't want extra sensors and things to support self-driving that I don't want, and are just more pieces to break.  I do not want Android or WindowsCE or any other operating system in my infotainment system. (Hell I don't even want an infotainment system, I just want something to play radio and have an aux input). I don't want satellite or GPS (it's in my phone already!).

I just want a standard vehicle, with as many mechanical controls as allowed by law, but with an EV powertrain instead of ICE.

Nobody offers this :(

Bolt an Leaf kind of come close but look like baby shoes (GM has a little too much "infotech" in it).  Tesla looks like a car, but has way too much Silicon Valley in it.
