That's a bold superlative there are headhunter tribes throwing their spear at you for it right now.

(I cant help to giggle at the idea that there would be some kid in every tribal village, with a smartphone, reporting back to their community what the bay is saying, and everybody cares)
An 80 year old member of a tribe in the middle of New Guinea spontaneously combusting after hearing of another Scoops Novel thread
At the rate he makes threads there won't be a member of the tribe left by the end of the year.

I missed that convo, but good call, Vector. I can't say much else, I'm in a cis lesbian relationship and I have like zero experience with anything trans, so.

Thank you.

I got a real apology from the woman who kicked me out of our office yesterday, and the apology was cognizant of the fact that she had sent me right out into the danger that she'd been so terrified of. So that was nice, but today I've spent the day in bed and am ordering dim sum.

This isn't the biggest bit of sadness ever, but I just got out of a 14 hour long blackout in the middle of one of the hottest days this month. Virtually everything in the fridge has been above safe temp for hours and I only barely trust the freezer because the temperature display on it showed 15 F when power came back (still below freezing).

So now I've got a bunch of food that was perfectly good 24 hours ago but I no longer trust.

Yeah, in a blackout, never ever open your fridge unless you have to. Standing Fridges have great convenience but opening them up spills out all the cold air quickly. Call and complain to your power company, it is possible you can be reimbursed for lost food if the power outage was their own mistake, or if certain guidelines are met. I worked for a short stint as a Customer Rep for a power company, so I'm somewhat familiar with people being angry about their food going bad due to outages.

I opened the fridge exactly once, to get something cool to drink with dinner last night (4 hours into the blackout with 10 to go, so I doubt I did much damage). Haven't had the heart to catalogue everything that might have spoiled just yet, and because the weekly garbage pickup came and went just a short time before power was restored I'm not exactly on a time crunch to get it done.

14 hours doesn't seem likely to spoil too much that is non-meat if it was in an insulated, previously cooled container. I have drunk milk after being out of the fridge for like 8 hours and it was fine. Even spoiled milk isn't inherently poisonous. I wouldn't chance any meat, however.

Dunno if I've caught something (I've been in London for 5 days, got back on Sunday so I'd be unsurprised) but my left arm's been easily tired out, I've got brain fog, despite a full night's sleep I'm tired, and I had a murderous, steadily-escalating headache until I took an ibuprofen.

EDIT: Once again, I have to complain about the job application process.
It's like it's uniquely designed to be as offputting to me as possible. There's something about it that I find so incredibly mind-numbing and draining that I can only actively participate in it for, at an absolute maximum, 30 minutes. And that's when I'm having a very good day. Usually I'm lucky to pull 15 minutes.

The internet was a mistake, without it there wouldn't be a unique application process for every fuckdamned job and we'd just be accepting CVs instead.

There should be a union demand that companies structure their application processes in a way that is more respectful of workers' time.

The food in the fridge should be fine, just give it a quick whiff before you try to eat it.

Yeah, I don't know if I've developed CFS or I've caught some illness or what, but I'm not doing well.

Did 15 minutes on the guitar. That was enough for my right shoulder to feel like I'd done some super specific shoulder exercise, and I'd gone at it hard. 4 hours later and it's still not 100% recovered.

EDIT: Nope, can't even sleep. This is giving me too much anxiety and simply laying down with no distractions really doesn't fucking help there.

I don't know what the hell's going on with it. The doctor's obviously got no fucking clue either because they keep finding nice little things that are causing it. Only issue being that they find it and then things get worse anyway. It sure as shit isn't anxiety, that's the cause and effect being mixed up. It's not vagus nerve stimulation either.

It's really beginning to freak me out a bit because things keep getting worse. It started with palpitations, then headaches and a maybe-visual-disturbance-maybe-not, now brain fog and weakness. I don't know what the fuck this is, I don't know if I've gone and developed MS or a brain tumour or some other fucking progressive disease, nobody can offer me any goddamn solutions and it feels like the doctor just wants it to go away rather than to actually do something about it so they conveniently ignore any symptoms falling outside the purview of what they want it to be.
If it had happened a year ago I'd have not given a toss. I was suicidally depressed back then. It feels like a fucking kick in the teeth to have this shit start happening when I actually want to live. Whatever this is, it's the worst physical illness I can ever remember having. Otherwise all I've had is a liver issue that went and resolved itself, colds and stomach bugs.

Still depressed. I wonder when this will end?

I know I keep going on about it, but this really pisses me off.

I've got an especial hatred for the part of every application form where they ask you to basically fondle the company's balls and explain why you think they're so amazing to work for that you're after a job there. You know the truth is you want to be paid, they know the truth is you want to be paid, you still have to write a load of stuff about how much of a passion you have for discounted energy drinks or dried sausages from some mysterious farm located in the middle of Siberia.

EDIT: Christ, it just feels increasingly degrading the longer it goes on. It's like I'm selling part of my already-too-small pride for a job.
