it is censorship, and has the same problems.

just because you don't know about it doesn't stop the person from being a dunkass.

Ignoring someone's posts isn't censorship.

Why not? I'm supressing material that I consider objectionable, to myself.

Because you're only preventing yourself from seeing it.

That's like saying that because I don't read certain genres of book I'm censoring them.

More like censorship on a personal level. It affects no one but yourself... and possibly those who would hear you complain about the person you might have ignored.

So? This is the internet and the person in question can not vote. So who cares if they are a dunkass?

Exactly. And how can I be against censorship in general, if I would accept it on such a "minor" level.
Anything else would be hypocrisy...

...

Because blind obedience to a principle is bad no matter what it is?

Why are you against censorship?

Because I value humans equally and everybody is entitled to their opinion?
You can still argue, if you're unhappy with what beliefs they express ...

Ignoring someone is just that, not paying attention to them. Using the ignore function has the same effect as just not reading their posts. And I think it just hides the posts, you can still see them if you want to. I'm not sure since I've never actually used it but that's what I've gathered from the comments of those who do. If it's true, that isn't censorship at all, it is more like auto-spoiler.

Yeah, ignore just autospoilers people's posts.

You can take your definition of censorship as far as you want, it's cool.  My definition of censorship is just narrower than yours.  I only consider it a problem when you're preventing others from seeing something that isn't your own work.

No problem.  I somehow seem to be populating a number of signatures nowadays, and it's kinda fun :D

There are two problems I have with that. First of all, if I want to ignore an internet post, I really don't need a feature to help me do it. tldr syndrome and all that.
Secondly, auto-spoilering it just makes me want to read it more, even if I know it will be inane.  :-\

How are you denying their opinion if you don't look at it?

Do you seek out and read the thoughts of everyone you disagree with?
