You're trying to do serious work based on renders? That is not good, I think. (Disclaimer: my experience is with machine parts, not architecture.)

here's the process:

I get cad drawings of a building.

I make the building in 3dsmax

I send renders to the client.

their tech guys print out the renders, and give the printouts to the guy with vision, who doesn't use things like computers, or actually design anything really, and he looks at the printouts, grabs a sharpie, and makes corrections.

the corrected image is then scanned and sent back to me. sometimes, in a PDF file.

This is so horribly stupid it loops back into funny.

So, he just scrawls what he wants on whatever views the tech guys give him? How are ou supposed to know what he wants? I can understand technophobia, but you'ld think he'd at least use blueprints.

nope, blueprints aren't good enough for him. he needs to scrawl on the renders I give, which I have to then interpret.

Why doesn't the dude just use Teamviewer and tell you/point out to you what he wants you to change, and look at you while you do said changes?
Or will that just result in an endless "Move the collumn over by the window; No, I think it was better where it was before."?

I can understand technophobia

I can't. The sound of a computers internal fan helps me sleep at night, and the blinking lights when one turns on is like a friendly hello! Technology gives us the most interesting little critters...

it's best if there are several degrees of separation between me and him, to filter all the vitriol that I produce, which would melt his face off if we were to come as close as something like video-chat.

and he does the 'no, I think it was better before' anyways. just, this way, it takes longer, which is fine for me, I get paid monthly.

You should just render his scrawls.

Well, I'm feeling pretty sick.

Not by standards of sick, but by standards of sick vs. normal and the frequency that I actually get sick (pretty darned low).  A weighted feeling of sickness based on low occurrence and at least one-one and a half standard deviations from the personal norm.

Nasty sore throat, headache, exhausted, etc.  Guess I'm going to have to ask for a raincheck... I hope the guy doesn't mind too much.  We only got the "plan" fixed up late last night, anyway.

Bah.  I'm equivocating because I physically feel crappy and I don't want to feel morally crappy, too.
