So I started doodling again after seeing some Vi Hart's doodling videos and thinking "Hey I used to do stuff like that."

Doodling has long been something that has made me apprehensive, I'm very self conscious about my artistic ability and there's just something about drawing that made me feel very scared.

I did a bunch of stuff and found myself wondering, "Why did I ever stop doing this stuff?" Then I remembered a series of incidents in which my mother became angry at me for doodling on the back of worksheets and such and started forbidding me from doodling during school. There was a thing where for a while she'd search through my papers and worksheets looking for doodles to make sure I hadn't gone against her wishes.

I remember at one point I did some doodling in a bit of notebook paper, then tore out the page and threw it away during a study hall session where I had nothing to do. The teacher saw me throwing the page away and asked me what it was about, I tried to dodge out of it but she seemed pretty persistent in getting answers so I just told her that it was just some drawings but I didn't want my mother finding them because she didn't want me drawing during school. She told me that she thought that was a little harsh, but that if my mother felt I shouldn't be drawing during school then I probably shouldn't draw during school.

I think it was around this time I tried my hand at poetry instead.

That's tough man, I doodle all the time at school.
It would certainly suck if I couldn't.

Doodling... there's a good chunk of my college notes that have nearly as much ink on them as white space. I'd do (still do, if I'm writing stuff down for personal use) a sort of pseudo zen tangle thing that often ended up filling in all the empty space between actual notes. Some folks noted it looked kinda' like the cellular structure of plants >_>

Except, y'know, the size of an 8x11 with bubbles of legible writing floating around in it. Kinda' hypnotic to look at. Seemed to help focus a bit -- keep the hand occupied while the mind and eyes paid attention to the teacher. Ended up being fairly pretty, too, in a rather chaotic sort of way.

I'm an alright artist mostly because I constantly doodle.
It's also why I am only an alright artist, because all I do is constantly doodle.

I'm a horrible artist, thus why I pixel art instead of anything that isn't so highly quantized it is hard to make a mistake.

Well I did, back when I was still in high school, but you're kind of underestimating how much fear I had of that woman. I was really nowhere near rebellious enough to go that heavily against her, especially when a teacher had just told me to stop doodling. I really went to great lengths to try to avoid making her angry.

I'm a good enough artist, though there are likely many of you that are significantly better at it than me.

Having wide feet has it's advantages, but little toes getting beat up certainly isn't one of them. At least the entire sole of your foot isn't a blister (had it once, was surprisingly not painful). The worst of all is a thick callus, though. It gets to the point where it starts cracking, it takes forever to go away! And don't even think about peeling it, because it's way worse than any hang nail as far as pain goes, and heals worse than a paper cut.

Right now it just really hurts, but no apparent infection. I'm trying to keep them relatively clean.

Nah, mine is definitely just a blister.  I even have tiny, narrow little feet!  It's just that I have tiny, narrow little boots to go with those feet, and my toe's not used to them after hardly wearing shoes for a year.
