Up until 3am last night working. Woken up at 8am this morning by the damned leafblower that the HOA's gardening people use. If I had a sniper rifle, the guy might have died.
You don't need a sniper rifle to kill him!

I'm reading Alan Moore's Lost Girls (since we're on the topic of comic books). I can't see the artistic merit in it, though watching Peter Pan and Wendy stimulate eachother while Wendy's little brothers jerk eachother off is pretty amusing.
Please tell me your exaggerating. Please.

It's Alan Moore. I really wouldn't be surprised.

Not exaggerating. If you want to see for yourself, go to your local bookstore

The book has actually constituted a serious case around Europe and North America because people don't know if it's legal or not, due to scenes like this where minors are shown in the nude (but since they are drawings, and no children were exploited (just their dreams), the ethics is less than black and white). For PR reasons, major retailers don't put it on the shelf, but you can still order it and they will deliver it to you.

Or just get it on the internet.

There are lots of other scenes like the one I mentioned, and it just gets hilariouser and hilariouser the more you read.

EDIT: It's also expensive. $70 in some cases. Not bad, since the book is quite large, and the artwork is quite well done, and you have to order it. But still, $70.

Hi!

Please tell me your exaggerating. Please.

What.
Childhood destroyed.

Interesting. I would have thought that a common impression of what can be found in Japanese adult entertainment would have hardened people against such traumata by now. It is not that unusual for children's books to be used as a basis for sexual content. (And given the sexual interpretations of the deeper meaning of Little Red Riding Hood or the theories about Lewis Carrol and his attitude to that little girl, such things are not that surprising, I think)

Not to mention that no amount of soul-crushing makes the crushing of another thing dear to us less unpleasant. Not to mention some of us don't read/watch terribly much in the way of Japanese adult entertainment, so such a thing does get to us.

Ah! A good point you are making. And you also point out a mistake in my post (I can only blame that I should have gone to bed two hours ago (^_^;; ): Of course, it is silly of me not to expect traumata. However, I am still a bit surprised that people are surprised by such things. The thing I wanted to express but failed to express was, that even if we can't stand watching certain things, in the age of the internet, we shouldn't be surprised by their existence. After all, isn't there this thing about Rule 35 or some such?

I certainly was not. I am genuinely disgusted by the idea of that scene. And no amount of Japanese tentacle porn will desensitize me to gay lolicon. I mean, eww.

I just read Ultimate Spider-Man #117. :(

Spoiler: Depressing (click to show/hide)
At least you have comic books. I can't find them anywhere, and although they're probably around here somewhere, I can't be bothered enough to go that far.

I just have anime :P

Actually, the Fine Arts majors at my university have several bookshelves full of comic books. The other Humanities majors are free to waltz in and read 'em, as long as we don't steal any.

Lewis Carrol being a paedophile is just a theory, even if it could be a valid one (considering that he liked to sketch, and take photographs of, naked little girls). On the other hand, Little Red Riding Hood is laden with huge amounts of "losing your virginity/innocence/strangers are rapists" imagery."

And Alan Moore himself said something like: "What artistic merit? Lost Girls is porn."
