I've heard good things about Lando fighting space wizards.

Well, amusing things anyway.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Yeah, I didn't like a lot of it. I can list the stuff I did like here:
-stuff with yoda as the main character
-stuff where yoda has a major supporting role/sufficiently badass/funny/wise scenes
-stuff where mace windu is the main character
-stuff where mace windu has badass scenes
-most of kotor with the exception of Bastila
-some of kotor 2 apart from some bits that I can't remember at the moment
-the Thrawn trilogy, except for the good guys.
-that one interpretation of the Emperor that let him summon up black holes or some crazy shit like that
-anything involving Darth Maul
-a bunch of the ancient Sith

Essentially I really really didn't like the protagonists in the EU.

I love going off into the sunset endings ;_;

I love going off into the sunset endings ;_;
I love endings where they show what happened to the characters and they are all happy.

Seriously. I can stomach any devastatingly nihilistic work as long as it ends well.

Hmm, I can't say the same. For instance, I think that the first Farseer trilogy had a perfect bittersweet ending, which the second trilogy ruined (which is why I tend to ignore it)

I like devastating ones too, but ain't nothing wrong with some good old-fashioned happiness.

I like more upbeat endings, but the rare well-done downer or bittersweet ending is much better in my opinion. Things that just end with going off into the sunset, or otherwise leaving it completely up in the air as to what happens to the protagonist from then on, however, just tend to piss me off.

I've never been a big fan of "and lives out their life in peace" endings. My favorite heroes tend to be the ones that continue to seek out and destroy evil until it either kills them or they become a badass grandpa training the next set of heroes.

One of the best mutations of that type of ending I've seen was when the characters seems to have been set up to live in peace at the end of the book, only for you to find at the start of the sequel that they couldn't stand the peace for more than a few months and took off to adventuring again.

Only works if the character suffered a lot.

Suikoden has some pretty great endings.

I've never been a big fan of "and lives out their life in peace" endings.
Only works if the character suffered a lot.

Mostly due to this.

Most of the works I read and watch don't usually have characters enjoy any of their adventures. Unless they go psycho, of course.

It's like he actually appreciated the Star Wars EU or something.
* Sirus raises his head
Did I hear Star Wars EU?
I just hated large amounts of it.
Mara Jade, for instance.
Every Skywalker.
Most of the good guys.
The Vong.
Starkiller.
Almost everything except stuff with Mace Windu and/or Yoda in it, really.
Oh, and Bastila Shan. Killed her in every playthrough.
That's...quite a lot of it :o

HA HA HA!

Sorry Starkiller isn't part of the expanded universe, he is part of the main universe.

I actually like to mention Starkiller whenever someone bad mouths the expanded universe for having a few bad books... Because Starkiller is part of the main universe and his story is nonsense too.

Ohh and fixing Mitichlorians? Expanded universe. Hope you enjoy your force being caused by a bacterial infection EU bashers :P
