Well, tonight's the night. Either my family will explode spectacularly or be allowed to fester and rot for a few months, then explode spectacularly.
Fester and rot it is!

It was while reading a GURPS book, and involved a setting update, taking the traditional Standard Fantasy Setting (with magic, goblins, elves, etc.) and moving it to a more modern one such as the American Colonial era, the Victorian (NOT steampunk) era, or the World Wars. Not exactly an Urban Fantasy sort of thing, nor a Magitek one, it's tricky to explain the distinction I'm trying to make here.
No, I think I get it.

I haven't tried GURPS, but the setting is interesting nonetheless, and I think I'll flesh it out in a worldbuilding sense so that it will be easier for GMs to run campaigns in it. If/when I do, I'll start a new thread for it, but I'm intrigued by the Magical American Colonial Era idea and want to do something with it.
I'll have to do some more research into the era, I know very little about it at the moment.

If you're open to running a VTT game, we could try fumbling through it until we know the system.

God damn I hate being around people. Makes me feel awkward as shit. Which is why I don't go out much. Which is why I probably don't know anyone and feel super awkward when I do go out. So then I hate being around people because they make me feel awkward.

It's a vicious cycle of awkwardness and loneliness.

Also awkward no longer looks like a word.

Is there some way you would be able to practice social skills, such as with friends or something? I believe someone once recommended practicing by talking to yourself in a mirror or something. Might have been from these forums, actually.

Though I'm not really the one to be giving advice, given that I'm in a similar situation. Talking to people gives me literal headaches.

I'm okay socially I think.

But I often think that when I'm socialising, I'm not being me. I like being with family, or being alone, quite a lot. I don't seek interaction out, 'cause I don't want it that much.

Anyway, I wrote this for my sig, but it turns out it's too big, annoyingly.

One is for the Dwarf, for he is strong,
Two for the Goblin, so often wrong,
Three for man, whose hopes ne’er fall
And four for me, who is of all.

Also, is there a "Things that made you feel annoyed today" thread? 'Cause that would be good.

Don't think so. It's not like there's too many general [insert emotion here] megathreads in general discussion already.

Apparently there was, but it died out after 4 pages in 2010. The rage thread probably covers any annoyances anyway.

A google search reveals that stands for Virtual Table Tennis. Also, one result for Patchfinder. I don't think those are what you mean.
Are you referring to a game, or a GURPS module?

I'd imagine that it means Virtual Table Top.

More of a WTF, but apparently I have a need to write comments on things I draw as I draw them.

I'm about to freak out and start hurting people I care about because emotional overload, and I really don't want to. I wrote more, calmed down, and decided it wasn't needed. The fact that I had to do that makes me sad still...

What am I supposed to do when people get mad at me for not being perfect? I try hard, but I can't be. Stop yelling at me for it!

Edit: I could have put this in the terrified thread. That feeling, of knowing you could destroy someone with a few words, and part of me wants to do it. It scares me.
Posting here is probably the healthiest thing to do. I don't know anyone enough to hurt them.

I just found out that this morning a girl who I've known since I was in kindergarten, whose house I went around to all the time in primary school and who I regard as more of a sister than my own flesh-and-blood sister had a car crash. Her right leg is - reportedly - mangled and the doctors 'have done all they can for it', they've had to amputate part of her foot, she is on life support, is not responding to stimuli except when they tried to remove the breathing tube - she started gagging. Her brain is bleeding, although it is a minor amount and apparently it looks as though she's crying even though she's in a medically induced coma. I say apparently because I'm not allowed to see her - it's 'family only' at this point and it hurts to not know what's going on. They have no idea when she'll wake up, or even if she'll wake up.

All we know as to the why is that she argued with someone - no idea who - and then proceeded to leave and crash into a tree. Thing is, there are no skid marks so she either got distracted or she rammed the car into the tree on purpose. The second possibility would usually be considered bullshit except for the fact that she's been having problems at work - peopling shunning/talking behind her back, her mother is constantly on her case, the rest of the family won't butt out of her life - and a lot of them should be looking at their own children - and the last time I spoke with her - about a month ago maybe - she was in tears and was exhibiting signs of depression now that I look back on it.

That's making it so much worse for me; in the last couple of years we haven't really seen much of each other, but I still owe her - if it wasn't for her and my best mate being my friends back in Primary school, I probably wouldn't have been able to handle my own depression long enough to get help and I'd be dead now. Knowing that I not only missed the signs that I should know very well but also more or less just abandoned her - hadn't she told me that after her last break up all of her friends sided with her boyfriend - and didn't give her the help she gave me. I can't get the possibility out of my head that if I hadn't drifted off, if I had stuck with her, this might not have happened.
