Isn't there a difference between a touchy subject and a trigger? Like, a trigger is a detail that reminds someone/causes flashbacks to a traumatic experience (some odor that was in the air at the time, the same kind of wallpaper, etc.)?

it's relative to the person, but that would be kind of limited. Any more graphic discussion of rape can be a trigger. A lot of the blogs I read will add a trigger warning about ANY discussion of rape or violence.

Like to give you an idea, my experience wasn't really bad enough where I would be at risk of getting flashbacks, but I tend to fixate. So I will probably fixate on what the child rape scene in mists of avalon could possibly be and the details, and also the details of the serial rapist husband, did he get caught, how many kids did he rape, did she ever get held accountable for her own actions.

Researching this stuff will, however, probably just make it worse.

I forget where this came up, I think it was here so I'm going to ask here too

Has anybody made that forum specifically used for catching spam bots and observing them instead of taking them off the site?

(For those of you who don't frequent 4chan, this may not make much sense to you.)

I miss /pol/. Not because I went there, but because it served it's function as a containment board quite well; it kept the bigoted morons in, gave them a place to espouse their views, and kept them off the good boards like /k/ (weapons[guns, mainly]) and /b/. Now that moot's gone and ruined it, all the /pol/ regulars are moving to other boards and making those boards just as bad as /pol/ was. I just want to discuss how awesome guns are, not get into a debate about how (x minority group) is ruining America. Uuugh....

As a fellow /k/ poster, I know how you feel. Damn /pol/, ruining 4Chan's reputation for everyone (though /b/ isn't entirely blameless either...)

Yeah, 4chan.... the only reputation 4chan has now is "Evil bastion of evil people and deviants". Not much reputation to ruin when you get to that stage.

it's a cesspool. We probably need it to try to contain the filth that resides there.

I never saw child porn until I started frequenting /b/, and it doesn't matter if you report it or not, the mods make sure to leave it up for awhile. There's no way there aren't enough of them to swiftly respond to those reports, and the whole "the mods are asleep" game where poster go for entire threads of child porn... no, there's is nothing good or acceptable about any of 4chan.

Reading people describe how they had raped women, the details of pedophilia you only know if you have done it

I used to go there because it was like watching a trainwreck. Just awfulness crashing together in a big sea of the worst of humanity.

I just can't do that anymore.

See, shit like that? I'd have an aneurysm before I got past the front page. I rage at stupid shit that isn't even really all that bad, but those people? I'd want to go on a worldwide killing spree.

I'll stay here, where the worst parts of the internet are mostly minimized.

Yeah... it's a gathering place for the sickest, strangest people on earth to gather, a treacherous hive of scum and villainy. It's more or less a containment board too, nowadays. Keeps the /b/ros out of the decent boards. Still, it's.... it's a terrible place. The people there horrify me, save the stoners and the furries. They're pretty cool guys.

When I went on 4chan, the first thing I saw was a box of dead babies.
Intellectual curiosity was not enough to sustain my interest. I only read through filters like 1d4chan and that archive for /tg/.
