Manly men do things like chase balls
To quote Descartes, probably, "In the pursuit of balls, no sacrifice is too great."

I don't know what that means, but Google Translate says it means "If you want a man-child , prepare for the ball?"

Evil Step Mother: Cinderella! How many times do I have to tell you? If you want a man-child, prepare for the ball, you fool!

I think it is an allusion to the roman saying "Si vis pacem, para bellum."...

Apparently I'm being pressured into going to Costco today, to spend money I don't have.

You can do it Caroline! We believe in you! Just look at the light at the end of the tunnel! It will be great once it's finally over.

The fuckin' insurance company still hasn't paid us from when my land cruiser was stolen last month, we even have an insurance company investigator questioning every little thing we did that day. for some reason they think it is suspicious that my laptop was in the cruiser. I understand why they have to do it but still, its a fuckin' pain.

Fuck the insurance company. You pay every month for years and yet they still dont pay when you need it even when you have never had a claim before...

Training montages are all good and well but sometimes it helps to actually teach some of the things.

Had another dream where my dad beat me up. I hate those dreams.
...
It has been an entire week already, and finally, after hearing about work from the time the sun comes out to after it sets, after spending nearly every waking hour on work, work and more work, despite back pains and my stomach hating me, despite my dad pressuring me even more, despite the fact that near the end I barely even had the will to stop crawling on the ground in anguish, I finally finished everything for this week. I'll probably get like an hour of computer time, tops.
But hey! I still did it! I made it through one week!
...
Just three more to go! Hehehehehehe...
*cries*
*hugs*
You can do it! Just keep pushing on.

And, out of curiosity, what happens in three weeks?

That's a shame. I mean, if they allowed the free sharing of copyrighted music it was inevitable that they'd get shut down sooner or later. Still a shame. One less music sharing website.

Urgh. Giant semester-long project was not finished by deadline. Too many bugs. It was just an elaborate shell script and somehow we still couldn't get it to function. We specifically picked it to be unambitious and within the realm of attainability, and it was not. Got a report detailing our failure uploaded less than 5 minutes before due time. Feels bad.

My near-spotless graduate transcript is about to get a whole lot muddier.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

EVERYTHING WILL BE OK; this film about a guy with some kind of brain disease is simultaneously sad, and weird, and funny.

Went through my FB friends list and cleared out a bunch of people. Most of them I still think about daily, but they haven't spoken to me in 5+ years and ignored every attempt to message them in all that time...
