Nostalgia feels everywhere.

Shit. I remember how I cried during the ending.

(And now the reminiscence is making me tear-eyed again. It's been 4 years but I still miss my late mastiff a lot :'( He was a very good dog. Everyone liked him :( )

Sick of drama and fighting over stupid petty shit all day every day.  Why must emotional maturity be so lacking amongst the majority of people I interact with on a daily basis.  It somehow even pisses off uninvolved bystanders that I don't want to bicker dramatically over small, temporary issues that would otherwise be imperceptible specks of friction or inconvenience in terms of overall effect on our lives, if we could only leave them at that.

People love to fight.  I get it.  I'm fucking sick of it.  I want to run away and be a hermit.

It's my last day in this town. I don't really know why but I feel sad about this.
It feels like I should have done so much more while I was here, but I'm so anxious all the time. Life is hard.

I wish there was a 'things that made you annoyed today', because that's how I feel. Someone is playing their music loudly, and it is a playlist of nothing but edgy angst-rock. Now, while I'll admit, I like some of it, when I am trying to watch a video, I would much prefer it if they had headphones or if I had headphones or somesuch.

Blegh. Mini-rant over. Back to your scheduled sadness.

My wife witnessed a turtle getting run over today, and it's now in our garage still alive.  Not sure what to do.  Made a thread for it in Life Advice.

In a heavy 4-qt. saucepan, bring turtle meat and water to a boil. Skim off foam. Chop 1 onion and set aside. Quarter the other onion; add to saucepan along with bay leaf, cayenne pepper and salt.

More seriously though, are there any wildlife agencies in your are that you could contact?

They don't seem to be open.  Presumably won't be until Monday.

... what about vets? It's possible one might have some kind of emergency number or whatnot, or at least be willing to give some info re: short term care. Dunno if the wildlife agencies would even do anything about it, since softshells don't seem to be endangered or particularly dangerous.

Can't really recall much for turtle care, though. Think I actually had some sorta' pet softshells (for a little while, anyway, possibly only to keep around until they were big enough to eat), but that was well over a decade ago and I wasn't the primary caretaker. Also they may have just been left in a five gallon bucket.

Make sure it's got some water to crawl around in and food, that's really about all someone untrained can do for it. Probably take care not to let things get too cold, if you've got AC, etc., running -- I've lost healthy reptile pets to idiots not keeping it warm enough, nevermind injured ones. Probably not going to be able to identify problems without training, much less do anything about it, so giving it food and decent hydration is about all you can do. It'll make it or it won't.

I had the same thought... but there's really not a lot of wildlife in this area (just outside Indianapolis), so we try to take care of anything that needs it anyway.

Plus, I think little projects like this were one of the more valuable parts of my childhood.

Don't you love those days when you go in to work, mess around for four hours without getting anything accomplished while your boss helps not a whit, and then go home without making a single cent?
