Turns out I *am* getting screwed out of the room, two days before I was supposed to move in, 4 days before the job starts.

All right.

One of the plus sides of having a stress-induced "filthy habit" is the ability to judge when you are stressed inspite of an alexithymic personality...

One of the downsides is I appear to be being stressed, judging by how I'm puffing on the E-Cig again...

Alrighty. So, I'm in "fuck everything up" mode again. It's wonderful. The end of this semester cannot come soon enough so that I can have money to fix all the shit that's going wrong. Failing that, I'll just slap a few people with a stack of dollar bills until I feel better.

the connotations of slapping people with stacks of dollar bills are marvelous thank you hollywood for introducing this stereotype into my mind no i won't tell you which one go watch your own b-movies unless you already sold your soul to tvtropes in which case welcome aboard

i have no idea why i reply here since i'm pretty bad at replying to internet sads but i've been lurking this thread on my phone for a while since it's decent reading material and sometimes you get stories which take a good ten minutes of scrolling and it's just text all over the place and you managed to unfuck more or less every fuckup which has been fucked upwards so yeah that's a good trend and i hope & am pretty sure it continues keep doing whatever you're doing i wish i could undo the fucks as good as you can

Descan, my sympathies. Was it at least a "stay friends" situation?

Also, sorry to hear about the house, Vector. You going to be able to get to work still? If you need to move out for convenience, or for sanity's sake, you could try looking for a less flaky roommate? Maybe throw a few lines out there, see if anyone you knew from school is looking for a place, or knows someone who is? Good luck there.

I had an interview with the manager of the bakery/deli I was looking to work at, and completely won him over with my charm, work ethic, knowledge and experience, and general people skills. I pulled out all the stops, and really made an impression, so much so that he waived the second interview and offered me the job right up front!

...at which point he informed me that it starts at 4am, only offers about 10-20 hours a week, pays $8 hourly, and offers no benefits. Not even discounted food.

"Sign me up! What's that, sir? Will I be looking for other employment in the meantime? Oh, of course not!"

I... don't know, really. I hope so, but... I don't know if he broke it off because of me or him.

I understand there are thin margins in the baking industry, but damn, that's NOT a good deal. Congratulations on having such a good showing at the interview though, that's hard to pull off.

Siiiick D:
I have two tests tomorrow that I have to pass if A) I want my CDL, B) I want to go home sometime soon, and C) I want a job. Would love nothing more than to stay in bed all day to ride this illness out, but of course it has to strike at what is quite possibly the worst time.
Well, time to take Nyquil and hope I can be reasonably awake come 4am.

If you can strike a deal with a gas station to carry your donuts, those margins get fat really fast. When I was Asst. Mgr. (Shift Lead 2) of a particular gas station, I was told by the baker that brought our donuts that they cost him about $.07 to make. We bought them for $.53 apiece and sold them for $.99 apiece. Profit for everyone!

Still going to be able to get to work, yes.  However, 4 hours of every day will be commute, and I'll have to get up at 5 AM.

Sorry to hear that, Soli...  I hope you can get better employment soon.
