I never use shaving cream. I do only shave immediately after a shower, though, so my skin does get rather softened by that.

I decided to shave quickly and dry,

My face feels like I've plunged it into hell.
Did you honestly expect anything other to happen than that o.O?
I've done it before, so I know it's not exactly the nicest feeling around. I guess I was a bit overzealous with the razor this time.

* Haspen uses electric razor on dry skin and then applies after-shave balm.

The most I ever felt after above was localized itch wherever I pushed the razor a bit too hard on the skin.

I use safety razor with just water or regular soap. Irritates at least my skin way less than electric razor.

I generally shave dry. Never had an issue.

I went from an electric to a safety razor when the former proved insufficient, but now even the latter isn't enough. Think I'll have to start using a straight razor entirely soon.

I use an electric razor. Does take a bit of time but I'm allowed to space out and do something else at the same time, which is not always a smart idea with a safety razor.

Wash face > Shaving oil > Disposable razor > Shower.

Electric is just bleh. Also I highly recommend shaving oil, makes for a much closer shave and your skin feels a lot better after. Also it doesn't cause acne, in case the term 'oil' was a worry for you. Apart from that if you don't have a very careful hand and get a few cuts you should seal them up with alum powder, works better than anything else I have ever tried in preventing scabs. Just don't swallow any...

Electric razor here. Someday I hope to remove my facial hair permanently with lasers or electricity, because shaving is a really annoying and tedious task.

The problem with having a beard is that you either maintain it, and that takes more effort than the chop, or you don't and wave goodbye to healthy social relationships.

Facial hair annoys me to no end.

Plus I tried once and it looked absolutely horrible.

I never found a electric shaver gave a good a shave as a safety razor. I used to have a proper brand but now i just use bic disposable razors.
Generally that's what I hear from a lot of people. Basically:
Electric razor:
Good) Faster, easier to use, less likely to cut yourself
Bad) Less good shave
Safety razor:
Good) Better shave
Bad) Take more work to use, more likely to cut yourself

Some people argue cost as well, but I've found that depending on how good of a electric razor you get the cost of new blades vs the cost of buying a new electric razor every now and then comes out about the same (though I find the fact that you don't have to keep searching for blades that fit your safety razor a bit of a good for the electric).
