Worth noting that Walmart bought ASDA (the supermarket that held the sale); Might have something to do with it.

Windows partition decides today is the day to be all bitchy, no viruses though so it's just a bad day...

I hate having one gig of RAM on my laptop >_>

You want Dark Souls. It's one of the deepest and most interesting games I've played in years. It is mentally stimulating in a way that few games are.

Money is fleeting. The glory of being curbstomped by the alien menace in UFO: Enemy Unknown on Superhuman is eternal.

...is that even in the bundle? It best be in the bundle.

A police helicopter crashed into the roof of a very busy, popular Glasgow pub while a ska band were playing last night, killing at least 8 people (including everyone on the helicopter), and injuring 32, many with serious injuries, some possibly mortal. There may be people trapped, it's unclear. Rescue efforts are underway. The entire pub is destroyed.

On St. Andrews day, Scotland's national day, our flags are being flown at half mast and footballers are wearing black armbands. It's a terrible tragedy.

I heard about that but I didn't realize anyone was killed.

What was a helicopter doing there? News chopper, military?

It was a police helicopter on routine patrol I think. That's pretty common (common enough that a "Paisley Lighthouse" is a police chopper on patrol). But yeah this just feels like it's actually going to get much worse over the next day or so. It's crazy because I drive past the exterior of that pub at least 3-4 times a week.

Sales are dubious...? Christ, I forgot how left-wing / anti-capitalist the lower board is. -.-

Yeah, three police were killed.

Its as tragic as the plane in Alaska that went down. Only 4 people perished, but one of them was an Infant. :(

Actually I meant the promotion of violent hordes clamouring to pick up things from shops, creating more demand with little regard for human safety.

The sales by themselves are not dubious. What is dubious is often introducing lower-quality goods (I'm fairly sure some other person on these boards could tell you all about this concept, I've only heard the gist of it) that are sold as their regular counterpart for an admittedly lower price, the hells that people stuck in already fairly bad jobs have to endure during the sales themselves, and of course, the manifestation of pure, all-holds-barred consumerism as people literally get beat up over products that someone else wanted to purchase. Before they're paid for, mind you.

Of course, having never taken part in that sort of insanity I might be biased.

Yeah, yeah, we're all communists yadda yadda. Turns out that practise that leads to fights and people being trampled to death isn't necessarily popular. Don't misrepresent the thing we dislike - the whole "willing to let people die to save a bit money" part. Not the sales, but the way they function to cause such behaviour. Last I recall, the half price memory sticks at the local Argos didn't cause a murder-stampede.

---

Helicopter -wise so far, 8 are dead, 32 injured, some likely mortally. I wonder what caused the crash? Do helicopters have blackboxes?
