Also, two things that stops any man, be him Chuck Norris or a Mr.T.: Bullets and blades. Get close enough without being seen and you don't need to know martial arts/human anatomy.
Bullets, perhaps. Blades can be defended against whilst unarmed. Especially if they don't know how to use said blade properly - it actually becomes a disadvantage against an unarmed opponent who really knows what they're doing. The same goes for guns at close range, though at long I admit they tend to win.

But men weren't made to fight/kill, we don't have good teeth, we don't have claws, we don't have horns, and we don't have a reliable hide. Yet we do have a brain, so we can use it for diplomacy.
We are made to fight - just not in the same way as most creatures - for example, we have a much greater range of flexibility, as well as the ability to grab and lock far more effectively. A well placed elbow can shatter the skull, so yeah.

The idea that humasn are not designed to kill is quite amusing. Brains, opposable thumbs, our ability to jog for long distances - all help us catch and kill prey. A man can easily kill another with his bare hands - he can strangle, he can snap the neck, beat him to death with kicks and punches. That's not even using tools, something we've evolved for. Why would we need claws to interfere with a grip when our ancestors could use a spear instead, something much better?

Guys, come on, this is getting silly. :<
Can a compromise be reached if we say "Human body is not designed to kill quickly compared to sharp claws&teeth armed wildlife predators"?

There's a martial arts with a type of punch designed to kill a bison instantly.
Almost there...

Ok, let me paraphrase that: "Human lacks innate ability, both physical and mental, to bring down the prey bare-handed in efficient way like wildlife pradators do."
Better? :P

Humans are designed to survive in their environment. If that means punching a bison, so be it.

I'd also beg to differ :P

The instincts are there, people are just trained to ignore them from a very young age.

Again, no, endurance hunting is a thing. Basically chasing a deer until it dies of exhaustion. Humans are surprisingly tough.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

"Human IN THESE DAY AND AGE lack innate ability, both physical and mental, to bring down the prey bare-handed in efficient way like wildlife pradators do."

Eh, you know what - I was just trying to say your average, untrained, white-collar family-man could not compare to, say, tiger, when it comes to catching and taking down it's prey.
Dammit guys.  :P

... I've, it's definitely an aside, but I've long wondered, Gig: Do you folks catch much flak because of the name? I mean, it's like two letters off and the pronunciation near identical...

Read my sig, and know the answer. Most people misspell it, but I don't really mind. People who know my real name always seem to call me something else as well.

So really there's no change.
... just to make sure, you did notice I was asking about shotacon karate, right?

No... not in the slightest. I guess child porn isn't the first thing that comes to mind for most people. Never even heard anyone make a reference to the two together. So congrats, I guess. You successfully think of child porn when a type of karate is mentioned.

Far as I know, shotokan comes from Shoto, one of the founder's pen names, meaning pine waves or something, and kan, meaning style
Shoto's style.

Nothing to do with shotacon at all.

Humans can outrun most animals. It's one of the things we're actually p. good at.

When I practiced gensei-ryū back in my day, our website adress was one letter different from site dedicated to gay hentai. This, of course, caused much hilarity when new members tried to check it out.
