Can't lie down, I'm at work and there's a tornado alert so I can't leave.
Also iPod battery about to die.
Seems like the start of a horror movie.

The thing is successful people don't care that their ideas are stupid.

Mate: Flappy Bird. 50 Shades of Grey. Highly successful stupid shit is the norm, not the exception. You'd have to be amazingly talented at being stupid to create stuff where everyone will hate you because it's so stupid. There's some steep competition for that crown.

No matter how stupid it is, someone will buy it. Basically minimize the number of outstanding projects, prioritize them by size and how worthwhile they are. You're not going to make much money off a "Let's Play" video series for example, and they can take a long time. That's the sort of thing I'd put way down on the back burner.

Short stories are a great use of time though, get those written, there's a lot you can do with the format. Work in chunks, a novel is really a series of short stories after all, break it down and set small goal. You can smoosh all the stories together later on computer nowadays, so it really doesn't matter what order you write chapters.

-snip-
No, they probably aren't stupid.

If you mess up, you can fix it. The backspace key is there for a reason.

You also don't have to show anybody, and remember that no one here will ridicule you.

You should also consider making forum games out of your ideas, if you haven't already. If I have an idea that I really like, then I just make a game out of it. I don't really do any formal planning; you do, and that's more than I've ever done.

Start doing it spontaneously, before you get a chance to think your counterproductive thoughts.

Though forum games may not be the best if you want to avoid Lyeos craziness.

Yeah, I would start with short stories/drawing. You could also make some to use for your lore and worldbuilding.

Clear out the easy ideas, and build up to the big projects.

I probably didn't have to tell you any of this though; you can think for yourself and probably already have plans to do all that.

Also, if you don't mind, can you give us some examples of your ideas/plans? And when you say game do you mean video game or forum game?

What Worldmaster said about games might work, Karkov, for example, was wondering about taking what he wrote for his game and turning it into a novel once it's finished.

And yet I'm the one trying to get the party member you threw at us instead of running away.
And also the one that suggested a reasonable pet.  :P

If it helps, I'd read it.
And, you've already got it planned out, which is awesome.
Also, look at it this way: At least it'll be better than anything Lyeos will ever do!  :P

Your idea seems stupid? Write it anyway. One of two things will happen. Either it will turn out just as badly as you thought, in which case you'll have practice for the next one, or the stupidity will prove to be an illusion and you'll have created something worth having. Win-Win.

Well, you are an Adept Madman.

In any case...

I would read whatever you do too, and I can practically guarantee that it will be better than anything I'm doing right now, or have done. Planning helps a lot (see: Kevak's games) and it is something I need to do more of.

Which I kind of am for two more games, but that's beside the point.

Behold, this amazing fan-fiction linked from the WTF thread. Can your writing be worse than that?
* Lyeos raises his hand.
Mine is!

But then again I didn't really give a rip and made very little effort.
Since Cmega intends to give it effort and has actually spent time planning, it's 107.95% likely that it will not be like that.
