... Well that's something.

In other news, I realized I'm kinda large. Like, tall and relatively strong for a human. And I've got all these little organisms counting on me. My wife, my son, my dogs, my lizard, my plants. And I can't even take care of myself, with an above average body of the most lethal and adaptable super predator on the planet. Not just that, but I'm smarter than most humans too.

Fuck, how am I supposed to be an effective caretaker to all these little creatures that need me? I don't know how hard it must be for them to rely on such a piece of shit wrapped in apparent potential and intelligence.

PRINCE -- "But how do I learn? And when do I know that I know everything."

KING -- "When – you - are – King you will know. Now leave me!

The Prince leaves.

When you are King! But I do not know. I am not sure. I AM NOT SURE OF ANYTHING!

When I was a boy. World was better spot.
What was so was so. What was not was not.

Now I am a man. World have changed a lot.
Some things nearly so. Other nearly not.

There are times I almost think I am not sure of what I absolutely know.
Very often find confusion in conclusion I concluded long ago.

In my head are many facts, that, as a student I have studied to procure,
In my head are many facts, of which I wish I was more certain I was sure.

Is a puzzlement. What to tell a growing son?"

cool

I dislike this narrative where people say they're confused, they know very well but refuse to dissolve their cognitive dissonance

What? Who said that? Sorry - I'll just start drinking myself back to sleep in the interest of everybody.

Wait for Britain to ban playground equipment over this one:

Quote
AN 11-year-old boy has been left with horrific injuries which could have killed him after he attempted to recreate a dangerous YouTube stunt.

Tyler Broome passed out while been spun at high speed on a playground ride using the back wheel of a moped — a viral stunt known as the “Roundabout of Death”.

Tyler was rushed to hospital with injuries so severe that doctors said they were usually only seen in fighter pilots suffering the effects of g-force.
...
A 20-second video also shared by Ms Hollingworth shows her son laying in the middle of the roundabout ride at a local park in Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, while it is spun with the back wheel of a moped by an older boy.

As the ride begins to slow, you can see Tyler slump forward as he tried to sit up.

A girl can be heard giggling and asking: “Has he passed out?”

Tyler was found unconscious by a passing teenager, after the teens who coaxed him to recreate the prank allegedly fled after he passed out.

Great, so the kids who got him to do it ran off and didn't get him medical attention, but made sure to upload the video first. On the brighter side, the UK has discovered a cheaper way to toughen up fighter pilots.

That exact situation is why those things are approaching extinction in the US. There's been no ban that I know of, but playground operators don't like the potential liability.

A friend of mine was insisting that you're banning all knives, based on a video he watched.
I uh, sorta assumed it was just a Youtube shock jock thing talking about butterfly knives, or something.
But apparently it's kinda true, if you don't have a specific reason to carry?
Which apparently to the Mayor of London is "never"?  Faux News but still.

My friend did claim they were targeting butterknives and that all other knives were already banned.  Because it WAS a biased video designed to confuse and scare people.  But like... still.

Banning carrying of knives in public isn't the same thing as "banning all knives" however, which implies they're coming into houses to take people's cutlery away, which is clearly nonsense.

Also, that's from the mayor of London. And if you're not aware, London is a city, and not the whole of England. And something tweeted by the mayor of London isn't a legally binding law. The tweet was designed to dissuade people from carrying knives, it wasn't a statement of fact.

Also, if you look at the context of the crime-spike, it's because of a drug war and turf battles between rival gangs in London. Not only is this not any sort of national ban, it's not a ban at all: it's a crackdown on gang behavior, and common sense would tell you that they have very limited police manpower to carry out the crackdown, so the entire effort will be focused on specific districts where these gang killing are taking place, and looking for groups of people who look like gang members, or are known gang member affiliates. It's going to be nothing like a national ban on having all knives of any description.

Or one of the steps in a brilliant and overcomplicated scheme for world domination from a Saturday morning cartoon?
