Whilst I'm normally more than happy to bash the Irish, the stereotypical idea that they're a rough-and-ready-foul-mouthed-yet-somehow-unaware-of-it race is simply untrue. Their diction is, as it is for everyone, primarily offensive when it is meant to be.

S'funny, the only Irish people I know will hurl insults as the only acceptable means of greeting a person. Or conversing with them in general. Then again, it's not a very large sample group, and one of them's Northern.
Yea, I sincerely doubt your sample size can rival mine XD

On the bright side, Facebook's search engine is incredibly fiddly, and I can now no longer find the particular comment she made regarding the boinking of her roommate, so I can't stare at it again to see if it's changed.

You might only be running into terrible people because they use Facebook.

Actually I've had little to no contact with those particular individuals on Facebook, and they're both quite nice people. They just take the massive piss.

The "she" in that second bit refers to the gal I had the misfortune of developing feelings for recently. And I've been really bad about letting that all go. Which kinda ties in with everything else going on currently, which is primarily just a bunch of moping about how I'm nearly 30 and have nothing to show for it except trauma and degraded hopes for improvement.

I'm close to one Irish person, mainly he complains about the English.  He's a history teacher so his list of complaints is extensive.

I'm a history Master's student.

My list of grievances is no less long, just less suited to today's narrative.

But that's life, I suppose.

(I'm half English btw)

Managed to make it out to the class event today, and left feeling worse than I arrived.

I had to leave early as well, but I doubt staying later would have helped.

"this place" is ambiguous.

"this Place" the forum?

"This place" the hospital you work at?

"this place" your city?

"this place" your province?

"this place" your country?

What?

Workplace. Unhappy with work environment. I *need* to leave.  Last few months were bad, last few weeks have been awful.

It's funny but I've found that whenever I'm leaving the people coming at the clinic are among the first to tell that it's happening, without me saying anything.  It's also the ones I find the hardest to deal with when they ask me not to.  :-\

I'm more than willing to go untethered. Really, finding jobs is not hard in my job. I have offers, both back home and abroad. I do want to take a few months for myself though, because I'm utterly crushed by this place.

I do have to give notice as per my contract, at least three months. And furthermore, it's always hard to detach yourself, esp from the people you like. And in particular make arrangements to make sure everyone in my clinic is OK and being looked after.

That's rough, Shadow. I hope you can get out of that situation soon.
