I have a hoarse voice and it won't go away. Been like this for weeks. Doc thinks it's linked to laryngitis.

Haven't spoken (well, a few words here and there) since the 29th.

Voice still hoarse.

Do you know that joke about Loud Whispers and Th4DwArfY1 in hospital, the day Boris Johnson comes to visit?

He goes to Loud Whispers bed, shakes his hand, and asks "Hello son, how are you feeling?"
"Not great, sah" Loud Whispers answers, in a thick cockney accent "I´m afraid I´ve thrombosed haemorrhoids"
B:"And how are the doctors treating you?"
LW"I get a lidocain ointment and a brush, and I apply it to myself".
B"That´s great lad. And what are you looking forward to?"
LW: "To recover so that I can continue playing soccer for the glory of the UK!"

Then Boris moves to Th4DwArfY1´s bed, shakes hands with him, and asks "What about you? Why did they admit you into hospital?"
Th4DwArfY1 answers with a hoarse whisper: "I´ve laryngitis"
B: "And how are the doctors treating you?"
Th4DwArfY1 "I get a lidocain ointment and a brush, and I apply it to myself"
B: "And what are you looking forward to?"
Th4DwArfY1: "to grab the brush before LW does"

Okay I was invited into a girl's house so had to talk to her house mates for like an hour

From here on in my hoarseness may be attributed to the folly of men.

Oh shit... was it COVID? Please be safe?

No, old age. Nicest guy, we're sending meal packages to his family. Gonna miss him terribly.

I gotta ask, what is with you people with death and food? I mean, if movies are to be belived funerals are basically all you can eat.

Food is irrelevant in our culture when someone dies, even before this hungry times it was like that. People are generally too sad to think about food like that and in those portions. I guess is good to not have to cook for some days after losing someone, so I would understand if the food is not all eaten at once by the family and the guests as it generally seems on films.

Coffe in the other hand is kinda mandatory to the point saying "well drink his/her/they coffe soon" means someone is about to die.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

Meals are common at or after a funeral because funerals are social events. It is pretty common for large families to only assemble on a wedding/funeral basis.

Beyond that, there's a strong element of "life goes on" involved, as well as a reforming of the family bond.

Also has the eternal benefit of giving folks something other to do with their mouth than talk. When you're talking a large family gathering, it's hard to understate how much a blessing that can be.

Though, uh, that said, none of the local-ish funerals I've been to or heard of involved food, either, so. Regional variation est, I guess.

Had to give in and take a 10mg citalopram pill because the withdrawal was turning my brain into a mechanism of (self) hate which made it impossible to sleep. I suppose on the bright side, it's been a couple days with no withdrawal symptoms, so my tolerance for not being serotonined up has increased.

Also my internet is crapping out a *lot* right now.
