Dwarf Fortress Positive Press
« on: December 02, 2007, 10:01:00 pm »

There was a good review of DF at Play This Thing today, I didn't see it referenced so I am posting the link:
http://playthisthing.com/dwarf-fortress

From the perspective of my wife (just starting out with DF) versus myself (slatheringly addicted, laughs out loud when the goblin heads start flying), the review perfectly summed up everything she felt upon first playing. Nice review.

This is a really good review. The only thing it's missing is a mention that the game has it's bugs; sieges don't work at the moment, for example, and a good, solid, explanation of how you can abandon a a fort and visit it later in adventure mode, effectively turning Fortress mode into an elaborate map editor.

Ahh, my god, the misquote is killing me inside!!!

But otherwise a nice review.

Oh yeah. I noticed that when I read it, but forgot about it quickly enough. Add that to my list of things that are wrong about this review.

Have you noticed they corrected that misquote now...

I have noticed that there is quite a bit of blog press about DF. I have a google alert set up and I normally get from 3 to 7 items relevant.

I completely missed this the last time I checked the site, but Lost Garden also made a brief mention of Dwarf Fortress.
