A Toad in the sun
« on: October 18, 2009, 05:02:11 am »

The latest devnotes got me thinking on this: are you guys also worried about Toady not spending enough time in the daylight? Obviously (and kinda sadly), this is mostly for egoistical reasons, as it is well known that exposing yourself to daylight (or any light above 10k lux) loads you with good energy and prevents SAD or any other forms of depression for that matter, especially those small unnoticeable ones which impede creative and intellectual processes.

In other words, I firmly believe that Toady getting up early would improve the development process. What do you guys think?

Well, We aren't the ones who have any control over toady, even if we named a dwarf after him. But If your worried that he's taking DF too seriously and putting his own life on hold in places, I'd second your recommendation. Im certain that everyone here would prefer Toady to be happy and able to do what he likes, rather than slave away close to being chained to his computer.

I'm surprised no one's come up with a crack about cave adaptation yet.

Yeah.

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.

We could just send a S.A.D. Light and a bottle of Vitamin D, then he wouldn't need to go outside.  :D

I believe the noise you're thinking of is a hiss.

But anyway, just because we don't hear about it doesn't mean that Toady doesn't get enough sunlight.

Let him work when he wants to; he's self-employed, he can do what he likes.

I always though he only writes about cat or fortress or some other notable thing and that he spends some time doing other stuff, like going outside.

I.E:

I am sure he eats, even if it is not described in detail in devlog.

Better yet; some one mail him some Adderall and I'm sure then we'd see a release by next week.  ;D

On a serious note, I have noticed ToadyOne seems to be putting on a bit of weight, judging from the last DF Meet pics...

Oh, sure, it begins with Toady spending a bit more time in the sun. Then perhaps he gets a laptop and hangs outside a bit more. Maybe he goes on a few hikes...you know, takes the time to really sniff the roses. He begins to realize that maybe he loves the outdoors, the forest...

Next thing you know he's killing the postman for being in possession of so much paper (how many trees were brutally murdered for the mail?!) and eating his corpse while he programs Slaves to Armok: God of Blood 3: Elf Retreat

The sun is awful, and Toady should not be courting it, instead he should stick with the far more lovely moon.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.
