Quote from: Toady One
10/17/2009: Rainseeker has put together another episode of Dort Shorts which you can grab over on the DF Talk page: Dorf Shorts - Thas Grreat!. Rough day sleep-wise, but this could be the beginning of a wonderful new relationship between me and the sun.
Toady is going to become a family man! Sun is the best friend and lover... Oh, don't ask me how I know it...
Yeah, you say that now. Wait 'till you decide you want to take your relationship to the next level and sunbathe together. That bastard broke my heart and sensitive skin!

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

A thread about his sleeping habits?  Really?

Like Mussolini, or Kennedy...

Yeah, someone will get that reference.

He's got a Cult of Personality?

EDIT: Aw, somebody beat me to it.

Yay, someone got it.  Although the Catholic thing made me laugh.  You may also know the song from Guitar Hero 3.

As long as Toady isn't getting too little or too much sleep, let him do whatever the hell he wants.

By your logic he is diurnal: Toady One in the sun, Toady Two in the moon, and Toady... Three during an eclipse.

He he he.  Yeah, it almost looks done...  alas...  those who are in your teens, hold on until your twenties...  those in your twenties, your thirties...  others, cling to life as you are able...
It should be pretty fun though.

And toady four when the sun dies and the earth is bathed in eternal darkness, or maybe the gloom of the remaining white dwarf. If the earth survives that is.

Earth will survive; it'll be a charred ball of lifeless rock, but it'll still be there.

It'll have to survive bieng vaporized by the red giant phase, and maybe the nova (or does it just blow its atmosphere off? I'm not exactly sure how sunlike stars end thier lives) at the end of that.

A Nova is actually something different again related to the White Dwarf phase. A Supernova is the death of a star, but only really big stars. The Sun isn't big enough to go Supernova, so it will just get really big and red, eating Mercury (and i think it might get Venus too, not sure.) It definitely won't get big enough to eat Earth though, so Earth will get the shit baked out of it and will probably get very molten very quickly, but it'll still be there.

Hypothetically, we could make some sort of rocket to accelerate earth's orbit, thereby expanding the diameter and putting us further from the sun.

The only technical problems to overcome are a lack of enough fuel to go for more than a few seconds, and lack of enough steel to build it.  Oh, and earth's gravity might cause a few minor issues.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Considering we have millions of years until this happens, i don't think we need to worry about it yet.
