Probably fell victim to a 'cavein on embark' type bug where something is generated detached, but the game doesn't realize it isn't supported intil the area is actually loaded. This bug is rare these days.

I think the player IS ARMOK. He just possesses people and uses his kinder brother to act like him to test his power.
