Well it is due to a number of reasons

1) When the number is low people believe their donations actually matter.
2) A few of the people who donated in November did so with what they would donate in December.
3) The game isn't out yet

Though we still don't know if December is a total wash. Who knows maybe there are a bunch of Santa Ninjas throwing fist fulls of dollars at Toady.

I think I'm simply going for the 'reward' approach here.
Like I did when the last major version came out; I'll donate at least 15 euro's (more than 20 dollars) when the new version releases.

Isn't there a 'Reward-donation-thread' for that yet?
I clearly remember one right before the current version came out.

Yeah, I was worried that December was going to be light, because a bunch of people who would have donated in December spent their money in November instead.  While December was slightly lower than past Decembers, given that there's been no release this year and yet the year's total matches 2008, this obviously didn't shift anything for the worse.
