Is there any way to keep plants from producing seeds when brewed?

Not that I know of. Plants and seeds are inherently entwined at the moment.

i dont know if this would work but you might be able to cook the plant (which as you know doesn't produce seed) and just make that produce the alchohol. as i said not sure if it will work so i might be wrong

It could be done via reactions, but if you were willing to go so far as to start using the smelter, you may as well just magic the plants into booze there and then.

Can't smelt things that need to go in containers.

You can brew bloated tubers to get tuber beer, and they don't spit seeds out.

Maybe if you just delete all the seed tags. Then you will only be able to gather them or trade for them.

Or maybe that's not what you want.

Yeah, if you have a seedless plant, you won't get any for brewing. I'm not sure how to accomplish this, but i think removing the [SEED:] tag will do it.

Hmm, I didn't have the [SEEDNAME] tag, but noticed I still have the [SEED] tag for determining color. That probably caused the seeds to show up, since bloated tubers don't have it.

To the above poster, I'm trying to remove seeds because I'm wanting to brew the corpses of some giant insects into a tasty dwarven draught. I'm doing this by giving them a new brewable plant as itemcorpse, with an un-plantlike name. Kinda kills the illusion if it leaves seeds after brewing. My initial fix was to give the seeds an un-seedlike name.

If you have [SEED] but no [SEEDNAME] then it will make seeds with a name by adding 'seed' to the end of the plant's name. To make it seedless, remove both entries.

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

Thats actualy a pretty neat idea, the insect booze. Butchering insect corpses doesnt make sense, so the insect corpse being replaced doesnt realy matter that much.

Though I wouldnt drink it  :P
