Digging Down

(1/2) > >>

expwnent:
Is it possible to dig down into a layer that has been completely mined out? What if it's completely channeled out? Suppose you only have access to the layers above it.

Jim Groovester:
It should be possible to drop a dwarf down using a retracting bridge. And then just enable masonry on him and have him build a stair up.

100killer9:
Just find somewhere connected to a floor to put a down stair. As long as the up stair on the bottom is supported by a floor, things should work out.
Edit, kinda: Throwing dwarves in would work.

Uber dwarf2.0:
if your asking to dig below a hollowed layer while being 1 layer about the hollowed one,

- layer
0 hollow
-

you can dig a downstair and build upstair

*words underlined to avoid confusion

silhouette:
You can build staircases (not dig) in the build menu...

Yould probably ahve to drop a dwarf to the lower level and build a normal up staircase.
Then build a up/down staircase on top of that, then a down staircase on top of that.
