I totally agree.  This sort of happened in one of my high school English classes.  The teacher had us submit one of our papers through it, and we all got high "plagiarism scores," indicating that we stole stuff.  She was quite upset, until she realized that what it was accusing us of "plagiarizing" were quotes from the book.
Ha ha ha.

Yeah, One of my high school teachers the year before I had her found a student who plagarize so she used a plagiarism check to see if anyone else did. It gave everyone high scores, because the assignment involved quoting books and people. Anyways, I've never been accused but then again my writing method is unique enough that I'm probably only accidentally copying 1/3 of the world.

You can tell what kind of work ethic a person has by their reaction to group projects. When the instructor announces "Group project," you want to be grouped with the people who groan. If someone gets all excited when they hear about a group project, you can bet that they are likely a lazy asswipe who will serve as nothing but deadweight.

One time I did my groups entire project. From then on, I simply did what I was told...

Fun fact! There is no "final record". MIT is only going to know you were accused of plagiarism if she personally presents it to the admissions board.

So, in essence, fuck her.

As an over-eager, hard-working, student who enjoys working with over-eager, hard-working, friends, I resent that.  :D

In my class, you go for the people who do neither. The chipper ones are excited at stealing your work and the groaners are pissed because they are going to get yelled at, kicked out of the group, and ultimately left to fail.

I've written all sorts of papers and have never been accused of plagiarism, thankfully. I'm really paranoid, though. My advice is to cite anything you need to look up. This doesn't really pertain to physics or anything, but you still need to know it. If you looked it up, don't just go "Oh, it seems too simple for me to need to cite." You might get away with it, but it's not worth the risk, because your teacher won't take points off for citing too much. Most colleges give you one chance in your whole four years. Luckily, if you're a science major, you won't be writing tons of papers.
