Not only are you responsible for the destruction of a whole race (they had it comming, sure, but it's sad nonetheless) but humans are more or less extinct now too (science tells us you need at least 50 individuals for a human settlement to survive).
and what was that whole story with the purple bows (or whatever they were, I don't remember) it just seems to give you sad memories, and no sister to be found (or did I somehow miss one...?)

Each of those ribbons is a figment of Iji's imagination(Stated by the maker himself and I think a logbook in game mentions it if you've been collecting them well enough).  And no, you can't find Mia, she's dead.

There are people that survived the alpha strike that weren't at the base.  It wasn't a full power strike(The Komato one would've killed everything though).  I think Dan and several other sources mention that it's likely not all humans have died yet, Iji even mentions this during the last dialogue with Tor.

The null driver is a fun crazy weapon.  But personally I think the scrambler is one of the best items in the game.  All of Asha's dialogue while scrambled is

Hidden item in the game.  Every now and then replaces words or badly spells them.  Some key characters get their text overwritten completely.  I think it's in Sector 5 or 6.  I forget which.

Sort of. You also need to delete all your skills and pick new ones when presented with problems. It really helps.

All my accidental kills came from kicking turrets into people's faces.

I love how this thread turned into mostly gushing about Iji.

Rightfully so, though.  It's tied with Cave Story for best story in a freeware game.

Nifflas' games are also among my favorite things ever.  That page has some real winners.  (Though there's a new Nifflas game coming out soon in four days that is NOT free.  But if any game is worth buying, a Nifflas game is.)

The purple bows are hallucinations by Iji because she desperately wants a memento of her sister who died in the initial Alpha Strike.

Game fun enough to mention but not notable to make a new thread about. I figured this is the best place for such a thing.

Its like Falling Sand but better and it has air/wind physics. Bombs go boom as well as woosh now.

I loved Spelunky and Cave Story - but Cave Story was far less than Spelunky.

Oh god Spelunky. So good.

I hated Freeciv. The AI is all identical, and it exploits vulnerabilities in the game to create pox-cities covering the land and loads boats with settlers. Basically the AI was poorly made because its actions were left too perfect.

It's like an FPS. The AI can shoot the left nut off a fruit fly from six hundred meters through fog while falling through tree branches with the sun in its eyes. Good AI is more humanlike, that is, fails quite often in a legitimate way. You have a slider to show how often and how spectacularly it fails.

The Freeciv AI is set to "machine perfect with no variation" and for that reason it's bad.

Have you tried Cevo? It's AI is intelligent(for the most part), but nowhere near perfect.
