I'm gonna print it and have it in my bed.

Under the pillow?

Careful. The DF Fairy is apt to be a disgusting abomination with 3 eyes and a tongue that poisons
Appropriately, random creatures are being introduced in the next version.

Wow.

Some of those features on their own contain enough gimmick to constitute an entire commercial game's selling point if this were being developed by the generic modern game studio.

I guess I found it confusing because I'm not used to the word "caste" being used in this way. I'm sure it's perfectly correct, but yeah.

It's the biological use of the term, usually applied to the eusocial insects. It's used to describe the divisions between the different physical and behavioral groups, like ant workers and drones and soldiers.

Ah, that makes sense. I'm used to castes being man-made in nature, such as the caste system of India

And I'll assign it to a dwarf that horse, give him a lance, a crossbow, and a sword.

I really, really hope we can do this. If not in this coming version, then the next one. DORF CAVALRY.

Is it sad that I have somewhat lost all will to PLay DF as it currently is until the new games comes out?

Ask not what the Dwarfs can do for you...
But ask.... why are they drunk all the time?

Just how random? Things like colours and general looks or also something that could influence their combat abilities?

You can find more detailed information if you really look around the site and look at Toady's posts and various updates like Dwarf Talk. The creatures' random elements are influential and not just asthetic.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Huh?
No, just, no.
When you dig up a circus, clowns are sent at you, but eventually ( and this is the only mention of a timer ) the main attraction will come up.
If you survive that round you are free to go on your way without damage.

Oh, I have a fort, but it'll be just a purge project, me, the 6x6 regional tiles, and everyone on it, will die, it'll just be a crater in the ground.

I think Blargityblarg was referring to the old 2D version HFS.

Anyways, not sure what I'll be doiing with this current fort, perhaps find a cool way to end it, somehow.....

The concept was first discussed here, with a link to an amusing little Choose Your Own Adventure type game that you should definitely play.  Beat the game to see the details.

Toady later posted some more details (and sample raws) here.

"And as the update was released, thousands of forts were simultaneously flooded with magma and dropped 3 Z-levels, destroying the countryside. The remaining dwarves, devastated and barely hanging on to a thread of sanity, were sent to start a new fort in a terrifying forest."
