They do not.

The line thing would work better with sugar or pop.  They love pop so much they climb into it and drown.
Yea....Pop is their true love. Its like cocaine to them apparently.

Do the ants attack other insects? It'd be nice to have an infestation of ants that prevented an Arachnophobia-type scenario, which is something I fear will happen to me someday.
They do, they once killed a scorpion that was hiding among my toys as a kid.

Try using pens. Draw a line and watch them follow it.

It won't get rid of them, but it might be fun.
I've done that in biology, you need certain types of pens for it to work though.

Anyway, cleaning up a bit seems to have gotten rid of them, at least from my room, which is all that matters to me at the moment.

I've had good luck with the plastic poison traps. That and winter.

Heh, that reminds me of that Calvin and Hobbes strip where it was getting colder and he was laughing maniacally because all the bugs were dying.

Chaoticag lives in the UAE.  That is probably going to diminish the effects of winter at least slightly.

Also, that being the middle east or something, all the bugs are probably pretty badass if they ganged up and killed a scorpion.

I would have been more concerned about us having scorpions that not only sneak in, but climb stairs.

Yeah, we get about a 20-25oC weather here in the winter (about 70-80oF)

On the other hand our Summers are 40oC or 120oF, so that ought to fry the bastards.

Formula for converting C to F.

Tf = (9/5)*Tc+32

plug in the relevant numbers...

248Farenheit = 1.8*120celsius+32

Is that right? That formula always slips my mind.

If so though, burn baby burn...

I live in the southern US, we deal with fire-ant colonies all the time here. Best way to kill a colony is not poison. It is dry rice. You see, the ants will haul it into their colony and feed it to their queen. The rice swells on contact with moist ant insides and bursts the queen, killing it and ending the colony. Its a good idea to clean the rice up before it rains though, as moist rice is good ant food instead of bad ant food.

Probably won't help BUT I once saw something somewhere where some guy (noone in particular) used a combination of maple syrup, arsenic (or some other VERY deadly poison), and cocaine. the syrup draws them in the poison kills them and the cocaine keeps them coming back. Just Don't put this concoction on your waffles, 'kay?

If you hit a dwarf with moving water with sufficient strength it will knock the baby out of the mother's arms.  The water can then be used to sweep the baby into a well or cistern for drowning.  The device which does this can also double as a mist generator.

If you're going to smuggle cocaine, you're going to have much bigger problems than mere ants.
And I highly doubt the efficacy of such a mixture.

I somehow doubt that ants have the same neurology that would allow them to get addicted to cocaine, especially if they're getting killed off...

Yeah, the syrup and pheromones left behind by other ants brings them back, the cocaine gets you arrested.

I can just picture a really weird, but brilliant detective going, "Can't you see?  It's the ants!  Follow me men!"

Only to zap them all with his magnifying glass in overexcitement.

I live on the west coast and the winter rapes the crap out of the ants. To tide infestations, we used the poison cans (works like magic when you have 30 of them).
